98 blazer. When I start it, the engine jerks when it first fires. The fuel pressure is fine while running and the engine runs fine. But when I shut it off the fuel pressure bleeds off. I suspect one of the injectors is leaking fuel into one of the chambers and that is what is causing the sudden **** just want to see if I am on the right path or not

Hi,
Have someone pump the brake pedal and hold foot pressure it. Loosen the bleeder screw and air or fluid should shoot out... it's under pressure. Tell the person to not lift up on the pedal until you tighten the bleeder, or they'll draw air back into the line. They'll feel the pedal go down to the floor. Keep applying pedal pressure till the bleeder is tightened. Repeat the process till all air is out. They will have a "good pedal" shortly.
Do each wheel, and remember to refill the master cylinder as you lose fluid.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

My 95 blazer will onlt start when i spray fuel into the plenum and then it runs great

does pump run a couple seconds KOEO (key on engine off)? - put a light on pump + wire (pink?), I think these have a "back-up fuel pump power" through oil pressure switch?

Why my 1999 Chevy Blazer 4.3, engine starts, runs about 5 second, dies and then won't start, if you wait 10 minutes it starts and runs fine, this happens once every few weeks/months or twice in one da

You may be having an intermittent failure with the fuel pressure regulator - checking the fuel pressure when the truck won't start may pinpoint this problem. If the pressure looks OK, this same problem can be caused by the ignition system as well (ignition coil or control module).

S10 blazer runs but shuts off when i stop at a light it wants to shut off

SOUND LIKE TO ME A POTENTAL FUEL PROBLEM, HAVE YOU TRIED CHANGING THE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER? ITS WORTH A TRY, I USUALLY ONLY WORK ON FORDS, WHEN THEY HAVE THIS SYMPTOMS, ITS GENERALLY FUEL RELATED, OR AN IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, TRY SCANNING IT WITH A OBD1 SCAN TOOL, MOST PARTS STORES WILL SCAN IT AT NO CHARGE, BUT IF IT IS FUEL RELATED, NO DTC TROUBLE CODES WILL SHOW. OBD2 DIDNT START TILL 1996 YEAR MODELS. IT MAY BE A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, I WOULD CHECK YOUR FUEL PRESSURE BOTH KEY ON, ENGINE OFF AND KEY ON ENGINE RUNNING. IF PRESSURE IS TOO LOW, YOU VERY WELL MAY NEED A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR OR EVEN POSSIBLY A NEW FUEL PUMP, BUT CHECK YOUR PRESSURE 1ST BEFORE THROWING MONEY AND PARTS AT IT.

I have a 98 Chev. Blazer. While driving at approx. 80kph.the engine quit suddenly.no sputter or noise of any kind. When I turn on the key the fuel pump runs (slightly different sound than before) but...

check your fuel pressure it should be 55-61 psi with key on engine off.It should have a fitting on the fuel rail to hook a gauge up to.If below specs replace pump.

I have 98 s 10 blazer have re place fuel filter, had fouel injection cleaned via fuel rail ,replaced plugs wires rotor and cap .first start is always hard and advice

Sounds like the fuel pressure doesn't build up right away, before you crank the engine, just cycle the key from off to run position a couple times to allow the fuel pump to build pressure and then crank...if this still doesn't work, hook a set of jumper cables up to it and then crank...the extra voltage will allow the pump run faster and may fire right off....if this helps in starting, i would suspect a weak fuel pump.

While driving engine will lose power and start backfiring shut off for a while, restart and engine runs fine, replaced fuel filter two weeks ago, also had oxygen sensor and fuel level sensor replaced two...

usally back firing and no codes is a bad fuel pump or clogged pickup screen which is on the fuel pump.. you can get alge from the blended gasoline. see if you can run a prssure gauge to the out side of the hood and drive the truck, when the problems starts to happen look at the pressure. we had a k5 blazer do something similar. it would have 57 psi at start up and about 10 miles into dribving it we would have loss of power adn backfiring through the trottle body. feul pressure would drop to 17 psi. our pick screen was full of black alge from water in the gas.

1997 chevy blazer getting fuel and spark but not starting, only backfiring through carb.

You need 3 things.
Compression
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 63-64 lbs.
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to all injectors.
I think each injector is on a separate driver on that one.
Check for pulse to all of them.

You may be weak on fuel pressure . even a couple of lbs low on a cold start will cause a no start.
Double check cold start cranking fuel pressure. If under 63-62 lbs you have problems.
one test is to give it a squirt of carb cleaner not starting fluid. If it starts then you have a fuel pressure problem.
Run the full fuel pressure test and post back pressures.
Here is the guide lines on testing.
Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel. Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.

The 75-85 is only a check on the capable full pressure of fuel pump.
If you can not find the rubber return line check full pressure by plugging return line or just or the true full pressure can be taken direct at the end fuel filter.
What are the pressure readings that you have when done.
What are your cold start pressure readings?
Post back what you have. Good luck

Engine wont start without priming with gas first, then runs well

i have the same problem on a 98 jimmy 4.3 4x4.
i replaced the fule pump and have good pressure.
new wiers & coil (good spark) no MIL & no codes.
will only start when primed. it will run & drive all day
with no problems.
but once it has been turned off (warm or cold) i will
have to prime it once again to start it.
i have another engine that was in it before it spun a bearing.
it ran fine so i know all parts are good.
i swaped the mass air flow and throttle body but i still have
to prime it everytime to start it. am i forgetting something?
should i swap out the intake with the injectors?
any help would be sweet. thanks.
