My Saturn will only engage in drive for a few miles then it won't engage in any gear except reverse. It won;t even engage in park to unlock the doors, if I let it set for a few hours it will engage in drive again but not for very long. Has the transmission gone out or could it be some kind of sensor?

There is a major law suit against Saturn/GM to solve this.

If you are below 100 psi then you have a major leak inside the transmission. These will read upwards of 700 psi and require a special gauge to check line pressure. As far as fixing this there are limited parts available for this transmission and a replacement unit is big bucks. Take the car to your saturn dealer and see what they will do. These have a 5 year 75,000 miles warranty for the transmission, and most of them are covering up to and past 100,000 miles for customer satisfaction. If you dont know much or anything about this transmission do not attempt to repair it. Let the trained professional tech at saturn take care of this.

The slave cylinder will have to be replaced and air bled from the system to make this repair.
Good luck

If it is a 2.2 Auto it has a VT25E Trans,A really bad experiment from G.M.There is no dipstick. The only way to check it per service is to remove the center part of the main drain plug while running in park,if fluid drains or trickles out they say it's full. You probally have other Issues inside the trans.Check your mileage they have a special coverage period for this Trans through Saturn Dealer!! They May cover it or do a partial coverage for you.Hope this helps
