Do I really need to change the spark plugs on my 2006 Dodge Charager at 30,000 mile ?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Usually plugs will last as long as they don't miss fire. Todays engines are so precise that they aren't hard on plugs. But to do a tune up today its plugs wires and cap and rotor when they have them.

You shouldnt have to replace them but you do need to remove them clean regap if needed then put antiseize on the treads then put them back in if you do not do this then the plugs will corrode into the cylinder head and when you do replace them they will break off and you will have to tear down top of engine down to remove the head to try to extract what was left inside the head .

Tuneup 2006 tundra

A "tune up" is not rquired on this engine, the computer makes al necessary adjustments, there is nothing to adjust. Possibly spark plug replacement if it's a V-6 they should be replaced at 30,000 miles the V-8 engines use iridium plugs which last about 100,000 miles, the timing belt on both engines should be replaced at 90,000 miles, replace the air filter every 30,000 and change oil and filter at 4,000 miles. I would aslo recommend cleaning the carbon out of the throttle body at around 60,000 miles to prevent low idle and stalling.

When do spark plugs need to be changed on my 2006 chevy cobalt

Modern spark ;ugs can easily go 50,000 miles. If you think you need new plugs, go ahead and change them out. It certainly wouldn't hurt, and it might give your horsepower and fuel mileage a little boost. I would recommend using Iridium spark plugs from either NGK or Autolite. Personally, I use E3 spark plugs. They did wonders for my old '96 4.3 GM V--6. I would also invest in a premium set of spark plug wires, Don't scrimp on the wires, they are a vital link in the ignition system. A cheap set of plug wires can cause multiple misfires which would play havoc with the on board computer.

What is most important maintenanace service at 30,000 miles for 2006 Jeep GC HEMI V8? is it spark plugs? Any suggestions?

the most important (in my opinion) is changing the transmission fluid( transmissions for those cost about $4,000.00 to replace) its supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles. ( spark plugs can last up to 100,000 miles before needing replaced.)

How often do i need to get a tune up and what parts do i need to buy for the tune up?

once or twice a year is good for an actual tune up which is new fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, & antifreeze.
About every other year, you should replace tranny fluid and filter. Not bad idea to have coolant and tranny flushed every 2-3 years too.
