This may seem an odd suggestion but have you checked the hazard light switch on the dash and it's relay in the fuse box. Hazard lights are designed to work with or without the ignition key so you can lock and walk away from it when it breaks down.
I recently tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my jcb 3cx site-master.
It would'nt move forward or reverse, engine was good both solenoids for forward and reverse worked, but still couldn't diagnose the problem.
I don't have much technical knowledge but I just followed it step-wise, and now it works perfect! covers wiring, codes, diagrams, torque specs, PCV, everything
got it from www.reliable-store.com
Sounds like a switch failure or a loose wire near the switch. A short wold have caused the fuse to blow. Remove the cover over the steering column and check the wiring
need to re-sychronise the key put key in door lock hold button in on fob and turn then back to middle and let button go if it worked the hazard lights will flash. if you got a handbook it will explain it better
If your indicators are working on nearside, then it's not the relay as the one relay does all. It's just switched after the relay to OS, NS and hazards. I would think that a wire may of been cut when the blowout occured( I assume the blowout is on the problem side). So check the wires on that side and the bulbs.
