Car radio harness colour code

Just a note of caution - the entertainment or infotainment in these modern fully computerised vehicles is often integrated into other systems, esp the security system and attempting to connect an aftermarket unit to existing wiring might upset one or more of the black boxes.

Unless you can obtain a vehicle wiring diagram it might be wiser to wire the new radio from scratch.

If you definitely know there is no danger of the above happening, it isn't too difficult to identify the wires without knowing the colours. For a basic stereo 4-speaker radio there will be a ground wire, 1 battery live for the memory, 1 ignition live for the radio, probably another from the lights, possibly an output for an antenna preamplifier and four pairs of wires for the speakers.

Once the various supplies have been identified the speaker wires can easily be identified using a 9 volt battery to energise the speakers...

have you check to see if you can get an adapter wiring kit that will plug into the original car harness and the new radio. this way you don`t have to play with the wiring and mess something up.

red wire is live (battery) yellow wire live only when ignition is on, black wire is earth(car body) there should also be 4 pairs of wires green,white,grey and purple these are your speaker wires you'l notice with the pairs of same colour eg white one is solid colour one has a black stripe the solid colour goes to live + on your speaker the one with stripe goes to - on speaker, same goes for the rest of the pairs hope this helps

fastest and easiest way to do it would be to get used plugs from the junkyard and then get a wire harness for the radio to fit it, most auto parts stores carry the radio harness.

The haynes manual has a complete wiring diagram and can be bought at a local parts store

I have a 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5S and some body had cut the main harness to the radio now i dont know what color is which please help

Call a lock smith a good one can make you a new key.or you can go to the dealer and give them the vin code and they will make you a new one.
