I have a 1997 lumina with 3.1L. the problem started with loss of power under load and p0300 code. check coils and vacuum leaks both OK.change spark plugs and wires.[same problem] check compression OK.

Problem with 1997 Chevrolet Lumina i have a 1997 lumina with 3.1L. the problem started with loss of power under load and p0300 code. check coils and vacuum leaks both OK.change spark plugs and wires.[same problem] check compression OK. change #1 02 sensor. engine starts, idles, drives and shifts smooth when cold, after temperature reaches 190 - 200 engine looses power under load [in park accelerates without any problems] .when in drive idles good and there is throttle responsein the first quater of the gas pedal travel, then there is no throttle response until the pedal is pushed all the way down, when the transmission downshifts and the engine revs to over 3000 rpm and the transmission upshifts, and i will maintain any speed it gets to until i have to change the speed , when the problem starts all over again. But if i disconnect the plug from #1 02 sensor and run it that way ,the problem disappears, the engine starts, idles and runs good, smooth shifting, smooth throttle up and down at any temperature and any speed, no misfire code and no loss of power. If i connect the plug of #1 02 sensor the problem comes back again.

Since you changed the sensor we will assume it is working. When you disconnect it you put the computer in limp mode which stops it from using sensor values. If code 300 is the only code we will assume the coolant temp sensor and others are ok.
I would check fuel pressure with a gauge next.

I know you mentioned the EGR valve has been replaced, but you may have a bad 'new' part. I know the car is electronic, but has anyone checked its ignition timing (timing belt been looked at, I know it only has 77k on it). Is the fuel pressure regulator OK and it vacumm supply?

Changed coil pack and plug in #5 on 2002 Chrysler 300M.Engine light on put on scanner po300 and 305 come up. Hard to start when cold . Starts fine when warmed up. What's my next step?

possible causes for code P0300
you've already change coil and plug....

P0300 could be bad #3 plug or coil... switch those also and see if code change..

if it persist try the next thing..

I would try trading fuel injector 4 to 5 and putting 5 into 4 and see which code you get.....

  • Faulty spark plug (s)
  • Faulty ignition coil (s)
  • Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
  • Intake air leak
  • Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted
  • Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection
  • Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
  • Insufficient cylinders compression
  • Incorrect fuel pressure
code P0305 is simmilar....

  • Faulty spark plug 5
  • Clogged or faulty fuel injector 5
  • Faulty ignition coil 5
  • Fuel injector 5 harness is open or shorted
  • Fuel injector 5 circuit poor electrical connection
  • Ignition coil 5 harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition coil 5 circuit poor electrical connection
  • Insufficient cylinder 5 compression
  • Incorrect fuel pressure
  • Intake air leak

I have 1995 chevy lumina with the3100 engine. It starts fine but idle is rough and has loss of power and smells like unburnt gas.

How long since overall tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?
The basics for a rough idle, check for a leak of some kind, fuel--egr--vacuum, something of that nature. Does it run ok off-idle?

P0300 CODE

Hi there:
DTC P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

There are many issues that could cause this concern. Most common would be spark plugs and wires. A bad coil will also cause this issue. If this is the only code stored, it may be just that easy.

Other causes could be the engine is running lean, such as a vacuum leak in the intake. Also low fuel pressure or a injector that is dirty or going bad. A clogged catalytic converter may also cause a mis-fire condition.

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer

Additionally, I would check all vacuum lines it is very common on this vehicle for there to be a vacuum leak, if none are found I would get the fuel injection system cleaned it is often the cause of a misfire.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Egr valve for 1997 cheve Blazer code is 0300 misfireing what could be the trouble

usually this code is followed by another number 1-4 or 1-6 or 1-8 depending on how many cylinders your vehicle has ,, what the code you got is a basic P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer
  • I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck ope

I have a 1999 VW Passat 1.8l turbo. It has codes P0300 and others

They may not be firing. I would check spark from coils. You may have a bad coil pack. Do check for any vacuum lines. You can go to autzone.com and register for full free online repair manual

P0300 Engine Code Ford ZX2 2002 ZTEC dual over head cam engine. Has 107K miles. Has new plugs, Only thing I really notice is when I turn on AC the car seems to stumble at steady speeds, especially...

P0300 Random Misfire

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.

A Random Misfire code usually indicates a vacuum leak or bad gas.

NOTE: If a misfire in a specific cylinder should lead you to check the spark plug, fuel injector and compression.
