Some electrical problem

Something in the assembly is binding and stripping out the motors. Check the pivots in the linkages for friction and wear.

that is a big job.......the radio,hvac controls, all trim,instrument cluster and all the electrical connectors to the main wire harness all has to be removed and the steering assembly dropped down.

sounds like your ignition switch under steering colum has gone bad autozone or dealer should have new one if this was helpful please leave me good feedback

You need a repair shop or dealer, that has a data
base & the procedure to follow to reset things, after
the air bag went off

Just as a precaution, please check the brake fluid reservoir on that model. There is a sensor at the base of the master cylinder which can leak brake fluid over the wiring circuit, and cause the electrics to short out. In some extreme cases this has caused fires in some vehicles. This is why Ford had issued a recall to this particular model in the states at least.

Ok first you need to make sure that the battery was put back in correctly. Positive terminal to positive battery cable.Then if that is correct, check the main fuse's right next to the battery area, they are large and square ensure non of these are broken, or fused.Check all the fuse's in the other fuse box in the engine bay area and also inside the vehicle.

do you mean all dash lights, like a/c panel. ash tray, radio ect? there should be a knob to adjust, turn it off. if that does not work, there may be a problem in the instrument cluster, or the FEM (module)

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Since you have power inside the car, the battery and power connection should be good. You still want to make sure you have the best possible connection because if the starter isn't getting the correct amount of volts, it won't turn. So clean your battery terminals and post to make sure. Check your ignition fuse too. It should be labeled and shouls be located in the engine compartment fuse box. You may have a bad starter if the two steps before check out. You can take a hammer or pole, just something to make contact with your starter. You want to tap it five to seven times. Then try to start the van. If it starts, you have a bad starter and need to get it changed. I am thinking it is the starter because you have been having starting problems. Hit it and see if your van will crank up. Let me know what happens.

I JUST HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON MY 2000 WINDSTAR SEL LAST WEEK..IT WAS JUST ELECTRICALLY DEAD..I CHECKED OVER THAT THING WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB AND COULD NOT AT FIRST FIND THE PROBLEM..WELL AS IT TURNS OUT, MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS BAD AND IT WAS CAUSING ALL THIS HAVICK !!! I REPLACED THE CLUSTER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO PROGRAM IT BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START DUE TO THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM..IM NOT SURE IF THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM BUT IT IS IDENTICAL TO MINE AND I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS..
P.S.-I GOT MY CLUSTER AT A JUNKYARD BECAUSE A NEW ONE CAN BE PRICEY !!
