We just had our 2004 jeep grand Cherokee's radiator changed and now its overheating while sitting still. it runs at normal temp on the highway. i pulled it in the garage to see if the radiator fan was turning on. it did but only on low, it would never kick on high speed so it continued to run hotter. what can I check to make the fan run on high?
Hi Al, I'm glad to help!
Three possible causes: (1) The high speed circuit in the radiator fan motor could be defective. (2) The high speed fan relay Could be defective. (3) It possibly may have a wiring issue. I've seen at times where you can wiggle the fan motor connector that's mounted on the fan shroud and the motor will kick on. If this is the case then replace the hole assembly which is a motor and shroud assembly. Hope this helps and have an awesome day.
we have a 2003 and it did the very same thing . Its called cooling fan relay it costs about 60.00 and is located behind the headlight assembly . not very hard to fix if you know anything about cars .

usually the engine relay or cooling fan relay..!

You didn’t mention replacing the temperature sensor located
on the block in the path of the ‘cooled’ coolant.
I can’t tell you any closer where to look for it since you
didn’t specify which engine you have.
This device is a solid state item called a thermistor.
With the air temperature around 77 degrees F and a 'cold' engine, it should
measure about 10,000 Ohms and hot, around 1,200 Ohms while disconnected from
its mating connector.
With the ignition on, and the connector disconnected from
the sensor, you should measure about 5 volts coming from the ECU.
If this has failed, the ECU is not getting the right info
back from the sensor and doesn’t know if the fan is needed or not.

If you are referring to the fan inside the cab, I'm not...checked the radiator fans?
SOURCE: Oil Pressure Always Runs High - 2002 Grand Jeep Cherokee
If your oil pressure is running in the red this would indicate too much oil in the system. You should have your oil changed and refilled soon or you run the risk of burning out the oil pump. At idle your pressure should be just over a quarter of what your gauge has. At highway speed it should not exceed 3/4 of the gauge unless your going in excess of 100 MPH. Change the oil and filter and your vehicle should be fine.
