1999 Daewoo Lanos - Transmission Manual. Speedometer/odometer doesn't work. Any one have a diagram of the speedometer./odometer wiring, connections.

Just put it back on the road, it's a manual transmission, and only has 28K miles on it. It's working fine, after having the tire rods replaced and a radiator problem fixed, but the speedometer doesn't work. Mechanic can't find the connections, or where the sensor he ordered is placed. Can anyone help?

It could be the cable is dry, this causes it to stick (shows zero) then wind up untill it frees (jumps up) then do it again, disconnect the speedo end, pour oil down and leave it suppoted so the oil can work its way down, re connect and it will get better as the oil works its way along .

SOURCE: The odometer quit working on my 2003 Saturn Vue 4

not really able to trouble shoot this .. uhh you may need a new instrument panel.. this is something that a dealer will have to look at as it is illegal to mess with yourself.. But if it were me.. i would hook up an aftermarket odometer.. something you can take out.. and your engine will never gain any miles :) :) odometer would be just so you know the actual mileage.. ever go to sell it.. LOW MILES :)

please email me at [email protected] if you have any more questions. and please accept solution so i can get credit for it :) thank you

Is there a wiring diagram that helps you connect your speedometer, odometer and reverse back lights after a transmission swap?

You either need to use the manual ECM or there may be a way to bridge/bypass the speed sensor module that was connected to the auto box (you may also need the manual speedo cluster as well). I'm not having much luck with finding the precise wiring for your swap but I spotted this (no idea if it's gonna be helpful though...) -

Speedometer won't work at all.

If the speedometer and odometer are both dead, the problem is usually the speed sensor in the transmission.
If only the speedometer is dead, the speedometer and cluster may have to be repaired or replaced.

What's the problem when your odometer reading

are you saying that the odometer does not roll over the miles and that the speed of water does register the current speed?
Usually if the odometer is not working it is a problem inside the speedometer unit in the dash.If neither is working then you may have a broken connection to the unit on the transmission that sends electrical information to the speedometer.I hope this helpsregards

Speedometer works intermittently

It is most likely the speed sensor in the transmission.
