Re: I HAVE A 1998 NISSAN MAXIMA ABOUT 120,000 MILES . CAR...
I have a 1998 nissan maxima when the engine is cold the engine will cut off when you first crank it. It will cut off but i can usually get it going the second time. After engine warms up car runs great. Why does this occur
I HAVE A 1998 NISSAN MAXIMA ABOUT 120,000
MILES . CAR WILL TRY TO CUT OFF WHEN YOU FIRST CRANK IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS COLD.
SOMETIMES WHEN YOU FIRST CRANK IT , IT WILL
TURN RIGHT BACK OFF. ACTS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS. RPM SEEMS SLOW TO PICK UP. RUNS FIND ONCE ITS HOT.LET IT SIT FOR
4HRS OR MORE . THEN IT ACTS UP AGAIN. I CAN USUALLY GET IT CRANKED THE 2ND TIME . CAN
ANYONE HELP?
THANKS J
when car is cold and you first start it it tends to die. the second time it will start anr run fine
Same problem here. What I have read and experienced with other cars is the "idle air control valve" or IACV is clogged. I ordered a gasket for two bucks and I am going to take it off and clean that ******. While I'm at it, I will clean the throttle body and the EGR valve and tube. When the these parts go bad or get clogged up with crud, the car won't ide very well and the computer will try and compensate, but usually can't.
I have the very same problem let me know if you find anything out
