SOURCE: engine over-run between gears

This is a very common problem for ford. I have the same thing every day. It is the computer not reading the temp. When it does that just tap the gas pedal.

Try changing your idle control valve or stepper motor which is the same thing.try cleaning it first before buying a new one, this could be done with caburetter cleaner, let dry before replacing, hope this is helping ty.

SOURCE: Ford Focus Deisel chokes on acceleration

Hi mate.

This sounds like a fuel problem.

Some one may have have filled up with petrol. If so you will have to drain the feul tank and change your feul filter.

If only diesel has been put into the tank then carry on as follows until you solve the problem.

Change your fuel filter and air cleaner for a start.

Check your timing.

If you still have the problem, then have your injectors cleaned and reset.

If the problem is still there then you will have to have the fuel pump reconditioned.

You can also check your leak off pipes between the injectors to see if they are in good condition.

I trust this will help you.

Timing. It may be caused by several things. The cam position sender may be bad. The Ignition module can be bad. The engine's mechanical timing may be off .

A carrier bearing usually pertains to the differential assembly and would not cause the symptom you describe. There is a problem with this transmission that causes it to not drop completely to first gear after a period of driving. Ford is aware of it but I do not believe they have initiated a recall. Call your Ford dealer(s) to see if you can find an honest man. Ask for the service manager.

My focus lacks power when accelerating after changing gear

you may have a bad clutch if it is a standard transmission. when a clutch is bad the engine will have more revolutions and the vehicle will move slower. an other thing if not clutch for transmission check fuel filter.

Automatic transmission slips

Quote from Haynes manual for 2000-2005 ford focus:

'Due to the complexity of the automatic transaxle, it is difficult for the home mechanic to properly diagnose and service this component.'

You may have to visit a transmission expert...save up some $$ first.
