I have a ford focus 2000 Automatic and the problem i am experiencing is that when i accelerate it is struggling to change gears I have to put foot right down then the car well rev up to number 7 on the dash then goes back down to 4 on the revs and I have to keep doing this to build speed. Any ideas what could be wrong?

This is a very common problem for ford. I have the same thing every day. It is the computer not reading the temp. When it does that just tap the gas pedal.

Try changing your idle control valve or stepper motor which is the same thing.try cleaning it first before buying a new one, this could be done with caburetter cleaner, let dry before replacing, hope this is helping ty.

Hi mate.
This sounds like a fuel problem.
Some one may have have filled up with petrol. If so you will have to drain the feul tank and change your feul filter.
If only diesel has been put into the tank then carry on as follows until you solve the problem.
Change your fuel filter and air cleaner for a start.
Check your timing.
If you still have the problem, then have your injectors cleaned and reset.
If the problem is still there then you will have to have the fuel pump reconditioned.
You can also check your leak off pipes between the injectors to see if they are in good condition.
I trust this will help you.
