I pulled into my drive way and my 92 ford ranger, manual transmission died. I tried to restart it and nothing....there was a low clicking sound that i could hear. could the solenoid be bad or is there something else going on that won't let it start
yes, all electrical works fine, lights are bright. I have changed the solenioid on the fender and still won't start. When i turn the key there is a clicking sound coming from the middle of the dash. Check all your relay switches like the fuel relay and the other ones advance should know what your talking about when you go up there they run like 15 a peice

how old is the battery get it checked and make sure the connections at the the battery and the terminal on the stsrter pos. post are tight. find the grd term on the engine and make sure every thing is good and tight
You didn't mention if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive so I went with a 2 wheel drive. According to hollander the 5 speed transmaaion fits a ranger (2WD) 1991 - 1994 and a Mazda B3000 1994 only. Hope this helps.....
Be sure to put the truck in neutral, while engine is running, while you disengage from 4 wheel drive (low) to 4 wheel drive (high) and then finally to 2 wheel drive. It is critical to shift transmission into neutral when switching out of 4WD Low, as indicated in your owner's manual. Hopefully, this will help to FixYa problem!
If the truck was ran low on fluid to the point it clangs and bangs, the internal damage is done.
The best you can hope for is burnt bearings and hopefully the shafts are not scored. Disassembly is the only solution. Or a used transmission.
No the manual transmisson does not have a stick. on the transmisson their are two plugs. One for draining and one for filling. In order to check the fluid, pull the higher plug out and feel with a finger in that hole for fluid. To set the level to the correct level you would need to drain and refill the trans. If no leaks are present you should be OK
