Hi, My 1996 Nissan Maxima Bose Stereo cd player has no power. I checked the fuse box at the drivers side and it is ok. Is there another fuse I should check, and if so, where is it located??????
This
sounds funny but disconnecr the battery and then hook it back up-I did this and power was restored to my radio-I have no idea why this worked.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!
Wrong amp fuse or maybe you have a loose wire or a short somewherecausing the fuse to burn out?

I tried solution #1 and it worked! The radio on my '96 Nissan Maxima lost power this AM. We checked all the fuses and all were intact. We disconnected and reconnected the battery, and my radio had power again! Thanks for the tip!
I had the same problem with my 1996 Maxima with a Bose stereo. The disconnect battery fix worked.
Thank you so much!!! The disconnect, reconnect worked!!!! YAY!!!!
Thank you so much. I did the disconnect, reconnect, and POWER!!!
unhook battery hook it back up and bam!
We have the same problem with our 96 Maxima. The battery disconnect/reconnect trick works but on for a little while. The first time we did it, it worked for about two hours and then it wouldnt turn on again. The second time we tried it, the radio worked fine for about a week. However, the wife just called me and let me know that the radio isnt working again. Any suggestions on a more permanent solution?
Thanks!
Hi, there I have the same problem with my 96 maxima and I've noticed that when i put the cd in then the whole system loses power.if i'm driving and just listening to the radio then it's ok.do u think that maybe the problem is coming from the cd player not from the radio itself?any ideas about this?
thanks in advance
I have the same problem but on a 98 with a 3 cd changer. I try the disconnect battery thing Thanks ☼
Can you please explain the disconnect and re connect process? I am not sure what to disconnect and where it is located?
Thanks, this tip totally worked. Just disconnect and reconnect one terminal and the stereo turns back on.
The battery terminal disconnect/reconnect worked fine, but again it went off after 5-6 days.
This time the radio was on and it was playing Ipod via ipod cassette asapter, now when I started the car ( turn on the engine ) the radio went off and never came back.
Do you know what could be the issue? Or the engine should be turned on only with radio powered off? Earlier I used to turn on the engine with radio on, the radio goes off and comes back after the engine starts.
Is there a problem with something else?
no power at all to the radio
Thanks for tip. The battery disconnect worked but radio didn't turn back on after shutting off. Did battery disconnect a second time and has worked a few times now. I turned radio off an on several times. Sounds like a relay clicking inside. Wonder if it gets stuck. The car had not been started for a couple weeks. We'll see.
I had the same issue with my wife's '96 Maxima. I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery, reconnected and it worked again. But then it went out again a few days later. Repeated the process, fixed the problem, then went out again. Is there something more I can do? I can't keep resetting this radio every few days.
