I have a 98 civic ex and the door locks do not work at all!

My 98 civic has a door lock issue, well more the fact that they don't work at all. If you try to use the key they won't move, or even if you try to do it manually they just don't budge. It you hit the power lock button they make a noise like they are trying to but just won't move. Someone once made a comment that it could be because of my after market radio but I'm unsure what that has to do with it. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

SOURCE: automatic door lock no longer working

I just brought my car in because the AC was working, but not blowing cold. The emergency brake light won't go off. And the automatic door locks won't work (the doors lock manually but not auto). We just got the call that the entire fuse box under the steering wheel needs to be replaced. 270 for the part, 300 for the labor. !?!?!?!? It all just happened over the last weekend! They said not to drive it anywhere because you never know and all the electric could go!!! Not sure what caused it, but it sounds like I'm not the only one...

SOURCE: Car Alarm

sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff

SOURCE: 2004 Civic Drivers door lock

The driver's side door lock button is designed not to lock from the inside unless the handle is pulled, or the power switch is used. This serves as a reminder to not lock your keys inside.

If you are inside, and push down on the button (not the switch) hard enough to lock it, you've probably damaged it.

SOURCE: Sliding door driver side won't open

I had the same problem and it ended up being the sensor for the gas door. Another symptom in my case was the gas door not openning. The sensor doubles as a spring to pop the gas door open. I didn't want to mess up my storage compartment like danielbeaty, but it was harder. I took the kickplate off and the trim from around the rear panel, and a couple of screws, and was able to reach in and unplug the sensor. I'm in the process of posting the procedure in more detail.

SOURCE: key lock on my 2003 honda civic does not work on drv door

I am afraid they may have attempted to steal your car and thereby damaging the lock.

My key won't unlock drivers side lock on my 2004 honda civic ex

Your problem is not descriptive enough. Has it always been like this or just started happening? If it has always been like this, there is a possibility of a faulty lock OR someone has the door lock replaced and in that event, a new one from Honda comes with a new key that is different from the one for the ignition and the trunk and the glove box. Please provide more details.

I have a 98 Honda Civic EX - the power locks do not work. I have checked the fuses and replaced the control box in the driver door. Still not working. I bought the car used and it has an after market...

The remotes 'die' after a few years of use. I have a 98 EX and am currently on the third remote. However, before you go and locate a new one, you need to know that part of programming the new remote requires the original sound system which has a button that has to be pressed and held to cycle the new remote so it will work with the door locks.

2001 Honda Civic door lock

If there is nothing jammed in the barrel, you will need to pull apart the lining of the interior of the door, disconnect the power motor for that switch, then see if it locks by key, sounds like the motor is seized, of out of allignment, easily fixed with a second hand or reco motor, or witha simple adjustment. Good luck, hope it helps.
