Hello
When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.
Also have the charging system tested as a low system voltage can cause this same symptom.

SOURCE: truck after engine gets hot starts sputtering

You're getting a condition known as "vapor lock" or hydrostatic lock. This happens when you run your fule lines too close to a heat source (exhaust, engine, etc). You can solve it by re-routing it away from those heat sopurces...this should help.

SOURCE: 1999 f250 soon as engie warms up a little starts

check egr valve make sure it is not being opened at Idle when warm generally you can see the rod for the valve through the holes on the valve when warm watch the valve raise rpm approx. to 2000rpm you should see that rod move up let off it should rest again at idle, If it is stuck up or if the vacuum solenoid is some how failing and letting vacuum to the egr valve at warm idle opening it will cause an extremely poor Idle, this of course may not be it but theres a good chance. if you can see inside the egr to the rod for the valve, It could help you diagnose it as an egr problem or let you know to look elsewhere

SOURCE: I have a 97 ford

this may or may not help.
i have a 98 F150 with a 4.6 that i had an independent garage change the plugs and coil packs after i had the same problems you did. i had to take it back to him several times after and it never ran correctly, out of frustration i called the dealer where i bought the truck and took it to them. this was a small dealer about 200 miles from where i live, but my family is there. no large dealer ****, just leave the truck with us. one week later i got it back with everything fixed and it has run flawlessly since 2005. i was told that the problem was (1) the 1st guy didnt know what he was doing. (2) aftermarket parts didnt work. sounds like a load,but...

SOURCE: 2002 ford escape.....truck started sputtering

I have an 2002 Escape with a 3.0L engine.
First you need to get a OBD2 scan for the check engine code.
I suspect the code will tell you that one of the cylinders is misfiring.
If you also have the V6 engine, the most common cause of misfire is one of the Coil-Over-Plugs (COP). Each cylinder has a COP on the spark plug.
On the V6, you need to remove the upper intake manifold to get the back 3 COPs.
If you have a V6, and you have cylinder misfire, I recommend replacing all the plugs and coils.

I have had 2 COPs go bad. The second time, I replaced all of them.

Removing the intake is fairly easy if you have some repair experience. You need to get an intake gasket set for about $10-15.
The coils run +$75 each for OEM. I went with Ebay aftermarket; 6 coils for about $80.
I recommend replacing the plugs with the exact same brand as original. There is no miracle plug that will give you better performance or mileage. Stay original.
