Is the dash light switch the same as a multi function switch i keep reading about
No, they are not the same. The multifunction switch is on the steering column and controls wipers, turn signals, and hi/low beam headlights. Dash switch is on the dash and generally turns lights on and off and frequently also controls brightness of dash lights. I had a Camry that had the same thing happening...ended up having a toggle switch put in to control the tail lights...fixed the issue.

i have the sameproblem. Dealer part was quoted to me at $510.00. All after market parts stores were $350- 450. Try moving the emerg. flasher button while you step on the brakes and someone else watches the lights. I jammed paper beside the button and they work until I can fix it.I had to order the multi-function switch. and you have to pull the air bags to replace it.
SOURCE: No parking lights, fuse keeps blowing.
There is a ground not connected or a wire open that is causing it to blow
SOURCE: Brake lights will not illuminate when brake is pressed.
I would test the brake light switch. maybe its bad

Probably a broken ground wire. Check it with a test light. Make sure you have a good ground, and then stick the test light right in the socket to see if there is power. If there is power to the test light, but still none to the bulb, it's a ground wire. If there is no power, its a power wire. Just keep poking the wires, and work your way back until you find some power. Make sure you have the lights on when you're checking. Good luck.
