Have been researching this and all we've found is the speed sensor.
Did you service the Brakes? The wheels have spin counters and if the Brake pads disentergrate they can block the sensors in some designs.
This is particularily true where rear brakes have drum/rotor combinations. The inner drum portion can hold debris.
Like you said, "None of this started until the service Brake light came on". So eliminate the service Brake light and maybe the trans will straighten out.

I have had exactly the same problem on and off for 3 years now - and just solved it last week thanks to another computer site. Remove and disassemble both grounds from the top of both the left and right frame rails adjacent to the front corners of the engine block. Completely clean the green corrosion from the internal parts with fine sandpaper and add dielectric grease then re-assemble. Clean the mounting bolt and frame hole while you're at it. Sounds time consuming and difficult, but it ain't. No more than 45 minutes combined. I am a technical airhead so if I can do it so can you. What clued me in was the problem always occurred around wet or humid weather. Also, the clock would always lose time overnite. That has ceased also. Good luck. Anyone know why my left headlite, when deployed, vibrates and shimmys??? Sully [email protected]
SOURCE: abs codes co281 & co265
the first of the two codes is for the brake light switch, the one that is under the dash attached to the brake rod and brake peddle. Not much to diag on that one, if its bad it's bad, and when it sets the code that means it's bad.
The second one is for the abs modual, it's under the truck on the drivers side. It is bolted to the top of the thing that has all of the brake lines going to it. MOST all of the time that code is set the modual is bad. It can be a little hard to get the bolts out they are torqs 20 or 25(i'm getting old). There are four of them holding down the modual. There are also a couple of connectors going to it. And some of the time it will blow the fuse for the abs under the hood(its in the underhood fues block). Make sure to clean off the modual before you pull it out. You don't want dirt getting in the solinoids for the BPMV(that's the thing it's bolted to).
SOURCE: ABS brakes grunt, groan noise with brake pedal travel.
Joe it is common for the brakes to moan when they wear down and sometimes they will squeak, try replacing the front pads and lubing the shafts on the calipers install anti squeal on the back of the pads, the ABS device would not cause noise as they are just a ring with a magnet and the reluctor ring spins and the magnet detects the spinning of the reluctor ring, they don't even touch and are stationary in place where they are mounted. There is a possibility that the brake fluid is dirty and could cause the abs motor to groan but you would just have to flush the system, When you don't put your foot in it on the brakes it will make some noise even new, I have a 2008 ford ranger that makes the same noise and the brakes are fine. You will have to adjust your braking habits to stop the noise. You can change the pads and that will help but not for long, be sure when you are operating your brakes press firmly on the pedal until you stop. If the brakes make noise after you let up on the pedal then the caliper parts need to be cleaned and lubed, however it is not a safety issue.

Hello , the abs code is prob just a maintainence light, prob is fine but GM likes to get you into the shop to have it periodicly checked out. If the abs brakes work and pulsate properly then its fine. The brake light may be a low fluid level in the master cyl reservoir . Clean the cap well and add fluid , the proper type and rating in needed. Fuel pressure sensoe may be due to a weaking fuel pump , weaking pressure regulator or dirty fuel filter. Thank you , Quinn

It is the wheel speed sensor jumper harness more than likely on the driver side. They replaced the orginal with a newer better one but never issued a recall.

thanks to all of you, im going to try and look at this tonight or in the morning!
can you guys see everything on here or just, this "2003 chevrolet silverado 1500 4x4, my abs light first came on and nothing was wrong at first, but then later after driving maybe few weeks, service break light came on, and ever since the second light" sorry im new at this site.
i guess it didn't put this this is where the main problem is "after that second light came on the shifting isn't working right, its an "automatic transmission" but ill put it in drive get the rpm's up to maybe 3000 and the service break light will come on, from here it will not shift out of first into any gear if its in drive, but i can put it in first does fine, then second does fine, but when i go to third it will just run up the rpm's guess 3rd wont work, the transmission fluid is fine, i've been looking around and ive found two things maybe ""limp mode" which i dont think it is" and " the speed sensor." None of this started till the service break light came on, immediatly following this happens.
