IMPORTANT: Before entering programming mode, have in possession all of the remotes you
will be useing on the vehicle. Once you program the remote. all previous remotes that were
programmed will be erased from memory. The other remotes will not be functional until you
program the them again.
1. Remove the key from the ignition.
2. Close all doors.
3. Remove the "MALL PGM" fuse from the fuse panel. Use the legend on the fuse panel or
owner's manual to properly locate the "MALL PGM" fuse.
4. Insert the key into the ignition, and turn to the ACC position.
5. Turn the key to OFF and then back to ACC within 1 second.
6. Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters into
programming mode.
7. Press and hold the remote LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
IMPORTANT: After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful
synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime
that will confirm successful programming.
8. Repeat step 7 now for each additional remotes to be programmed including any existing
remotes.
9. Remove key from ignition.
10. Install the "MALL PGM" fuse back into the fuse panel and test remote(s).

    I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. I replaced batteries in both of my Fobs, but they still dont work. The only thing that works is my trunk will still pop open. Any ideas? I read on other posts if your enging light is on, your Fob wont work until the issue is fixed. Any truth to that? I do have an engine light on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Living in MN winters without remote start SUCKS! Thanks again.

SOURCE: 2002 montana program key fob

Key fobs tend to hold their code indefintely. The batteries in them are probably burnt. Open up one of the fobs and replace the battery (hearing aid type) then they should work fine. Good Luck!~

no need to reprogram....if they unlock but not lock then you have a problem with the wiring to/from the transceiver which will need electrical diagnose

if you think you have enough electrical and automotive experience let me know and I'll help you further

however, you will need a DVOM, a test light and a few hours to track down the possible source of the "shorts"

get two new fob e-bay is cheap or dealer cycle key from off to run NOT CRANK JUST TILL LIGHT COME ON . do that 8 times you door lock will lock then unlock this is key fob reprograming mode press unlock on fob door lock will cycle up and down then press unlock on other fob door lock will cycle again now start truck and shut off. test each fob.

when you reprogram the new fobs the other ones will not work

If the remote s faulty then key fob will not get programmed.

Insert the key in ignition. Turn the key to on position, and cycle the key three times off-on-off-on-off-on. Then with the key fob remote select your remote and then try to operate the vehicle with remote.

These are just the basic procedure, but sometimes it will not help.

On that case dealer is the only option.

Try with brand new key fob battery and see.If that helps.
Otherwise May be keyfob needs to be reprogrammed.

I can't open the car door with the key, i have to use the beeper but for some reason that is not connecting with the car (03 ford expidition). The car has two alarms, one i turned off with a key...
The key fob battery, the theft module , must be causing the problem.The car not getting open with key, may be key needs reprogramming.-------- There is a battery in a key fob, many a times battery gets weak or dead, causing the problem.But if battery in key fob is already replaced, then theft alarm needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer.The theft system is not letting the car to start.----------- Both key fob and theft module needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer.Its done by a reprogramming scanner.Not a error code scanned, but a reprogramming tool scanner.----------- That will only pin point the problem,if the theft module is got faulty or just needs reprogramming.---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
