Dead battery how do I unlock my car doors on a 1988 bmw 750il with a dead battery

  • tiffanyrenee Jan 05, 2009

I have a 92 735i, the battery is now dead and i am only able to get into the trunk. I have tried turning the key to disengage the doble locking but have had no luck. I need to know how I can enter my vehicle and replace the battery with out breaking a windo0w. I was told a locksmith cant access it either due to the double locking being engaged

The solenoid is holding the power locks down. Go to the passenger door and use the key while holding up the door handle. You'll have to turn the key pretty hard to manually raise the lock.

SOURCE: I have a 1988 BMW

I usually jack up the car and use a pair of jumper cables. Connect the red cable to the starter lead that the battery cable attaches to and the black cable to any good body ground. Connect the other ends of the jumper cables to a good hot battery. Use jack stands for saftey reasons. Be careful and good luck. It always works for me.

SOURCE: Locked out

Connect jumper cables to the starter connection which should be visible under the car, hot to the bolted battery cable connection, negative to any ground. Connect the other end to a battery after you have crawled out from under the car.  Also consider; my BMW had the battery in the trunk, which should open with a key.

I would call the dealer and ask the parts guy he may know and won't try to sell you service. if not that you can look in a chiltons repair manual at a auto parts store.

Bouncey rear shocks on 1996 750il

Sounds like your shocks are SHOT, sorry. Unless of course the model you have has adjustable settings. If NO, probably best to change the pair!

Bad starter

Hey there, I have a BMW 750il just like yours, the best way is to go from the bottom, you will have more elbow room to work with.
