The hood release cable is broken and I cannot get the main latch to open on hood
We have a old 1994 chrysler new yorker and the hood release broke, so we had to manually pull the latch by hand (by reaching under the hood) The latch was easy to find; however, simply pulling this latch was good for naught! This did absolutely nothing! No work today:( Really hope this car lasts for another month! Any ideas?
I tried a long screwdriver to release latch but no luck cant take grill out because all bolts are under hood that wont open cant reach it from underneath any other suggestions ?

This is exactly what happened to us with a new yorker (a 94) how did you ever fix this issue? Dan Chandler

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.
SOURCE: Hood won't open. Cable is broken and can't get hood to pop.
NO there is no manual way . get a good flash light and look at teh latch through the grill or from under the truck and try and pop it with a long flat blade screw driver
SOURCE: broken hood latch cable
all you have to do is grab flash light look through the grill should see were the cable goes through hood latch should be able to reach it with screw driver to push over and unlatch or you will have to go from under front bumper to unlatch.
SOURCE: Hood latch will not release the hood. Possible
you need to try to reach for the cable under the car or try to get the cable from under the dashboard, good luck
SOURCE: Stuck hood latch on 1996 chrysler concorde- Possible broken cable
take off the left front wheel and fender well. slice off the hood cable insulation get a hook too pull the wire have a buddy pull up on the hood while doing this. Should pop open then hope this helps u out.
SOURCE: hood latch cable fails to release hood when
I would try pushing down and pulling up on the hood while someone operates the hood latch. I'd try to spray some WD-40 between the hood and grill area. From underneath, you may be able to use a long screw driver to try to move the release lever over to release the hood.
It may be that your hood release cable that runs from the hood release is broken. You'r going to have to try and manually release the hood latch by tripping the release through the grill with something like a long screwdriver. You should be able to identify the latch trigger by following the cable to end.
You might also try having push down on the hood while another person tries to trip the latch if the cable isn't broken, but just stuck.
