have you removed any spark plugs? if so are they all wet or just some? Check vac line to fuel regulator to see if it is sucking up fuel through the regulator.

Sounds like its flooding(excess fuel)Try squeezing the main fuel line enough to allow enough fuel through for engine to run smoothly if that improves running of engine either fuel pump needs replacement or pressure relief valve has failed or has no vacuum to activate it.Dirty or failing injectors can also cause your problem, try putting a can/bottle of injector cleaner in fuel tank to see if it improves running of engine.Air flow meter can also be an issue.A few potential reasons foryour problem and too hard to lock it down to a single cause without the vehicle being in front of me to do the appropriate tests so have just provided the basic causes and hope your able to take it from here and solve the problem.Good luck

I have a 1988 dodge ram d250 with a 318 fuel injected motor that runs rough when u hit the gas and it is blowing black smoke out of the til end and i do not know why

Black smoke could indicate blow by in a cylinder or the valves might not be closing properly. Start with a compression test.

Twin turbo 80 horse power deutz Diesel engine blows black smoke under load

Diesel engines smoke when under a heavy load. Unlike a gas engines, a diesel engine uses fuel that is more like an oil.Smoking is a good indication the fuel is not completly burning because of loaded engine spee. White smoke indicates the fuel is not ignitingefficiently. Truck, boats, tanks abd anything else using diesel fuel will smoke when it gets more fuel than it can use.. Easing up on the throttle will lessen the smoke but not eliminate.. Of coarse if the demand is lessened by applying less loadyhe fuel consumption drops. Not to worry as long as the smoke doesn't attract the EPA.

Why does my 1988 ford ranger 2.0L is running rough and missing and blowing black smoke

Sounds like it is running rich, could be a stuck injector or a bad water temperature sensor. Is the check engine light on?

My 1988 jeep cherokee is blowing black smoke but not to heavy and a very rich fuel smell

Black exhaust smoke means the engine is burning too much fuel. The first think you should check is your air-filter and other intake components like sensors, fuel injectors and the fuel-pressure regulator. Other reasons could be a clogged fuel return line. Black smoke is usually the easiest issue to diagnose and fix, but burning unnecessary fuel will definitely affect your fuel economy, so don't think of avoiding this one to save money, it won't work.
Any smoke coming from your car's exhaust pipe is a sign that your car is in distress. Pay attention to what it needs to ensure more miles for your vehicle.

1990 mustang 5.0 runs ruff and spits and sputters and fluds out black smoke out exhaust .sometimes straightens out and runs good.what could be the problem?changed throtle positon sensor and still same

Try pouring a full can of seafoam into the gas tank with a full tank. That should clean out all the carbon and build up on the valves while lubricating at the same time. You can also use deep creep ( aerosol seafoam ) and spray into your throttle body or into a vacuum line going into the intake manifold. After all this, the engine should run smoothly, if not i would get a tune up to be sure everything's good.

Both products can be bought at any auto part store. They will definitely clean out any build up.

My truck blows white smoke

Hello!
There are two differnt reasons for black and white smoke coming from the tail pipe.
Black smoke means fuel runs rich (car getting to much gas). Check fuel pressure/air filter.
In some cases the white smoke means car is burning oil or transmittion fluid. Have tem checked/replaced.
If you can feel a smelly smoke it can be catalytic converter.
In a worsest scenario if car blowing white smoke it can be engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket ,or a warped/cracked head. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat. Also might be good to check your oil for traces of coolant (on a dipstick it would be a milky substance mixture of oil and coolant).
Good Luck
