If the vehicle is in Deadlock mode then a slim jim will not work. A good locksmith should get it open with no problems.

it sounds like the window regulator may be bad. I would recommend removing and inspecting the regulator and motor. Also, before you remove the regulator, you can inspect the plastic retainers that hold the glass to the regulator. the retainers can be replaced without having to remove the regulator itself.

the window regulator has failed. the door panel has to be removed first which requires removing the trim piece that is on the grab handle (extremely hard to remove without breaking) there are three of four screws that hold the door panel on. once the door panel is off, the vapor barrier has to be removed. don't tear it, it is there for a reason to keep water out of the vehicle. make sure you reseal it properly with window weld. once the vapor barrier is removed you will need to unclip the window glass from the regulator. i typically will take and break the tab that holds the window. once the window is loose, move the glass all the way to the top of the door. now remove the regulator, swap the motor over, and reassembly. i would recommend taking the vehicle to a bmw dealership, around $650 for the complete repair and the dealership will stand behind their repairs

Hi Racegas, I am assuming you need to take off one of the rear door panels. The 1/4 glass sunshade needs to be removed to gain access to a hidden screw. If you are looking at the sunshade from inside of the car. Lower the window, and look at the op of the shade assembly on the inside. You will see a square looking hole. Using a small pocket screw driver, or equivalent, insert the screwdriver into the hole and pry upwards. Pull the assembly to you at the same time. The clip that holds the assembly in place is pretty stout. You may want to shine a flashlight inside the hole to get a better idea of how far to pry the retaining clip up. Just in case you need to know, there are 2 screws under the trim strip that is adjacent to the release handle and one toward the bottem of the door near the interior pocket.

Me too, 2008 3dr!! Motor died last year, fixed under private warranty. Now it's broken again, dealer said it can happen but does not seem to have a solution? The 3 door arrangement seems like a poor design and they should have opted for framed doors like the 5dr.
