I had my transmission checked out by Ford and they said it needs to be replaced $3400.00 is to much. I can get a rebuild with a 3 year unlimited milage warranty for $1320.00. I have the truck up on jack stands and looking at what is involved in removing the trans. I can see
4 bell housing bolts at the bottom but I think there is 8. How do you get
at the top bolts? It looks like exhaust,starter, drive shaft and starter need to come off. Is there anything else I shoud be aware of. I have changed out transmissions before but it has been on older vehicles from the 60's & 70's. There is a lot less room on these newer vehicles. Any
information on removing the trans would be greatly appreciated.

Go by a place that installs transmissions and see if they have a diagram for the car you are working on make sure you have a good floor jack and someone to assist you
