Once I start the car, after about 10-20 minutes of driving, there is a burnt plastic smell coming through the vents in the car. My blower motor resistor has gone out (only blows on high) and I need to replace it, but don't know if that is the cause of the smell. Any suggestions?
There usually is a vent option for recirculated or cabin air. Have you tried to change what setting it is on , you may need to clear cabin air. I am not familiar with this model , but cars are coming out now with cabin filters, they need to be changed depending on driving conditions ie dusty , dirty conditions need more changing

SOURCE: blower motor still not working?
an open fuse or the blower motor, you replaced everything else, check to see if the parts you got are in good working order as well
SOURCE: i have a 2000 dodge stratus. the heat/ac blower
dodge has put a very low degree " THERMO FUSE" in the resistor
take your back out remove the cage from the unit take test light point or similar lossen the tabs that hold the fuse in go to radiosahack and tell them you want the highest degree THERMO FUSE they have for that vehicle or unit and then put new THERMO FUSE back in the tabs use needlenose pliers to squeeze the tabs tight again put cage back on put assembly back in blower motor area.
NO MORE PROBLEM
mine has not had a problem in 5 yrs now and i keep spares just incase the THERMO FUSE is only like 3-4 dollars at radio shack
any questions please feel free to call mike at 1-518-867-9551
i've helped many people thru this procedure it is a fairly simple and pain free progress

I changed out the blowr motor resistor today and still am having the issue with the smell so evidently that was not the cause. Any suggestions?
The smell occurs whether I have the A/C blower on or not...so I don't think it has anything to do with that. I read on another site that it could be from the blower housing having 10 years of junk built up in it and that it could be causing the blades and the shaft to bind which in turn caused the smell. Since the smell happens even when the blower isn't being used, I didn't know if that was a valid possibility or not.
