Question about 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic SS New Cars

1 Answer

Passenger side tail light

The light in question has not been coming on with the rest of the lights at night. along with the passenger side licence plate light. At first I could just shut the truck off and re start and it would come on, now nothing. just the right side tail light and licence plate light. Turn signals work fine just no tail light at night. Checked the connections, bulbs, and i'm fairly sure i got to every fuse and checked as well, and no problems there. Anyone help?????? Thanks.

Its regular bulbs in the tail lights. And its looking like there's no power to just the tail light cause the brake light and blinker still works normal. And the passenger side licence plate light seems to be connected to it somehow because when one is out the other always is. Before I could mess with the auto headlight switch and get them to come on but as of last night . . . . .nothing. I appreciate you helping me with this and i'm all ears.

well,it might be time to do the light switch.

    first,try giving the e-flasher switch a push or two,then leave off,then check tail-lights again.

ALSO if you have trailer wiring ,check the connections,if somone used those darned "crimp-on"splices,they always loose the connection,grrrrrr...

either way,the ONLY shure way to find the prob,is to "back-track"with a test light, one with a sharp end.

find the color of the wire thats "hot"for the good running light,go to the bad side(should be same color, only one that changes is "signal",and follow that wire!.

    normally(on older fords)the tails are a three wire setup,l-t,r-t,run-lights.

    BUT on gm/chrys-,and newer cars,it's four(run,l-t,r-t,brk)

SO on your car you may have 2-wires coming from the light sw for your tail's

where as fords have one.(wouldve made this simpler!)

ps:DO NOT run a "good"wire to the bad light,it wont work with chevys.

HEY!!,just thought of this,it's silly, but try another signal flasher!,I prefer the "solid-state"(relay-less)type,works great when you have a trailer hooked up!

--do you have a fuse for the bad side?,or just one for all running lights?,try jiggling the fuse in the socket!

    hope this helps!

do you have "led"or "standard" lamps,if standard,do the tail lamps have "flats"at the base?
if they are flat, the conections within the socket tend to "flatten-out"from heat.
bend them closer twords the middle of hole,OR replace the socket with a NEW one.
(check for volts at the socket first to make shure power is there!!)

Most vehicles use a twin wiring system. The idea is if one side fails then you still have some rear light.
Usually there are two fuses, one for each side. Check for power at the feed wire and work backwards towards the switch.
Your indicators use a different wiring system.

It should be the taillight fuse or instrument panel fuse . there is a small panel to the left under the steering wheel that has fuses in it and there is also a fuse box under the hood on the passenger side .

Just recently my licence plate light and exterior trunk lights stopped working. I thought it was simply two burnt out licence plate lights when I discovered the rest didn't work either. I found all this...

There is a wiring harness that connects all those lights on the trunk lid to the system. There usually is a connection to take the trunk lid off. IT is near the hinge support legs that lead from the lid to the hinges under the rear deck of the passenger compartment. Check that connection to be sure that it is not loose or damaged. IF it is not loose or damaged then the ground connection through the chassis parts that mount the trunk lid are suspect or there is a broken wire in the harness.
