When turning my car on and putting it into reverse, the check engine light came on and my car jerked into gear then it became hard to drive n it was very slow. and then when I put it into drive, it jerked again and then . After driving the car for a couple minutes,the speed of car kind of picked up it but the check engine light would still be on and the gears would still ****. The check engine light would go off after a couple days and everything would be fine and then it would all start again.i took it to auto parts to get a test done but they said it was ok.i called car max i have carcare they said they can do a test but if the test shows noting it noting im worried what should i do
The LAMP means GET THE CAR SERVICED

when the lamp is off scanning it can give you NOTHING
the lamp comes on at failure, so not scanning then means
you missed the BOAT, it sailed away gone.
the engine is MISFIRING ,say DTC code P0300
so then you see that and ask why

I had the same problem. The first thing that came up when they scanned my car was that I needed a new throttle body. Got that. That got rid of my car riding rough. Then they scanned it again for the flashing light. What came up was transmission range sensor. Costs about 45 bucks and my car has been driving like a dream for almost a couple days now :) I only got it on Wednesday but so far so good!

is this car still under warranty? if so take it back to the dealer and don't accept it as repaired till you drive it. sounds like the logic that controls the transmission is flipping out, sometimes they will tell you that it needs a reflash. what this amounts to is that the manufacturer put some not so great programming in the logic when they built the car but now they have a patch or fix that makes it work better but you have to pay them for their time to install the fix. ask them what they will charge you for the privilege and decide if it's worth it to you. there is a recorded technical service bulletin about harsh shifts for your car. well, actually there are two, the latest one a revision of the first. i would try to make this their problem, it really is. hope this helps.

it sounds like the sinchronizing rings are worn in the gearbox which means that the gearbox will have to be dismantled to repair, best to get the box fully reconditioned in this case
