Engine cuts out, wont start

Starts from cold perfectly. Around 12 kms into drive, engine starts wanting to cut out,.will cut out compleatly if you go under 3rd gear. revs will drop from 3grand to below 1grand. i did manage to get it up to fifth gear today but then lost all power going back down the gears. then for it to start, car needs to sit for up to over an hour and starts compleaty normal. i have ran the car around on very little fuel half a dozen times. could this be a fuel filter or even ignition module. autobarn guy said it could be that as when module goes car will cut out when its hot. got ant solutions, suggestions....plz help

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems.

SOURCE: Engine dies / cuts out when cold

Check the coolant temperature sensor. It is situated in the inlet manifold at the back of the engine bay. This basically acts like an automatic choke and tells the ECU to increase fuel mixture when the engine is cold.  I replaced many many of these to Renaults, Peugeots and Citroens for this exact fault.

there is a plug connector on the top of the engine (you should be able to see it with the engine cover still on) check the wires going to the plug as they are known to brake

Holden Viva 2006 manual hatch. Odometer 200 000 kms. Drives well on cool days. On hot days engine begins to cut in and out particularly after engine has warmed up.

there's a pretty good chance you have coolant contamination that's clogging up the flow of the radiator fluid. this would cause unusual strain on the system as it will begin to overheat and the engine may compensate to try to cool it using the thermostat to open the flow of the coolant. but on a cool day, it never needs to.
on a hot day, it's trying to push around gunky coolant and it's not cooling properly, so the engine .. basically sucks to drive.

try having your radiator completely flushed and cleaned out first.

Nissan NP200 started jerking whilst driving and cutting out completely and not wanting to start. If you wait a while, it starts as normal, but does the same thing a few kms later.

#1 if your engine light is on, you need to go to autozone and have it scanned. if you get code po420 or po430, your cat. converter is bad. If this is the code also should change spark plugs. Misfire causes cat. converter to melt inside.

This sounds to me like your coil heats up.Change your coil and the problem should be solved.Let me know how you make out

could be throttle positioning sensor,T.P.S.may be loose or defective,it must be ajusted perfectly because the computer adjusts the engine speed using this sensor when you are driving .good luck.
