Autozone check showed misfire 1. Just put in all new plugs and wires on 3/7 of this year. Plugs, wires, and coil were checked and they are fine. Supposed to go back tomorrow for compression check. They want to make sure there is compression, and if that is okay, they want to replace the fuel filter and injector. Check engine light is constantly blinking. Any ideas on what this could be??
Change nothing till you get the compression check, guessing will cost a lot of money, and still not be fixed. It may be best to go to the Ford dealer and get it repaired. They have a scan tool that will pinpoint the problem and cost less, here's a link to Code P0301. P0301 OBD II Trouble Code

It could be carbon deposits on valve seats keeping valves from totally closing. You can try getting you a can of motorcraft PM3 top end engine cleaner and get engine up to operating temp then remove one of the small vacuum lines from the intake and draw the contents of the can slowly into the engine. After you have drawn in the contents shut engine off and let it soak for about 45 minutes then crank it back up and let it run until it clears. Now it will smoke like a forrest fire while you are doing this so don't be alarmed, just tell the neighbors you are spraying for mosqitos. This may cure the problem. If not you may be looking at a valve job.
This can be verified with a compression test if this is what is causing it.

have the crank sensor check for erratic operation. if you have done all of that then there is nothing else. and they way the computer knows it is misfiring (if it is) false code maybe and could be bad crank sensor. good luck

flashing light is missfire code. if all that is good, the coil pack is bad. or the signal to fire the coil. unless of course you have a distributor. then you might have a bad cap or rotor, igniton module or pick-up assembly.

Check for Intake Manifold leaks with either a water mist from a spray bottle or Choke cleaner. Do this while the engine is running and you will know about a leak with an RPM change. I read about some intakes were 2 piece and the intermediate gasket leaks.
Also you could clean the MAF on the air intake with Electric cleaner. If you have an old fashion Vacuum gauge you could plug in and see how steady Valves are closing by watching the Vacuum bounce from misfires.
Would like to know results on this case.
