The rear brake lights and no turn signal lights and no back running light do not function anymore. Replaced bulbs and fuses. I got a new battery but the turn signal and brake lights do not work. I replaced the brake light switfch which made the light situation worse. I have rear license plates do work.
Is your four way flasher activated?
With the age of the car it could be that your grounds are bad somewhere which explains why essentially no lights work ... even though the bulbs/fuses are OK. You get power to these lights by having positive wires going to the light bulbs and the negative side of the circuit coming from the frame of the vehicle (referred to as the ground).
Pull all the connectors that you can see and make sure they are not corroded.
Check also that no associated relay that has anything to do with the rear lighting is not bad.

The brake light circuit going to each side brake light travels trough the turn signal switch and the third brake light does not go through the turn signal switch - so the problem is probably right there at the turn signal switch. Check to see if a circuit at the signal switch is hot only when the brakes are pressed and if there is only one hot wire when the brakes are pressed the turn signal switch is bad. There should be two wires that are hot ONLY when the brakes are pressed going to the turn signal switch (with the turn signal switch in the OFF position).
