SOURCE: i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and the front
I replaced the same part on the driver side of my dodge twice. the third time I found that I had to replace the castle nut. once I did this it fixed the problem. I hope this helps. the nut only cost me $25.
SOURCE: 2001 durango front end shakes and i replaced inner
I like the post above reference the brakes if there is pulsing when you stop. The struts make the most sense if your front end is bouncing. If the front end shakes when you hit a bump you should check alignment... But you may have the same problem I just went through... The upper and lower control arm bushings were worn out and loose. This is best indicated by squeaking and it is hard to replace them. I would take a minute to jack the frame then check the slop on you wheel both side to side and up and down. Last but not least you did not mention outer tie rods? Those were the worst on my 2001 durango. By the way my knucles are still healing from the ball joints!
SOURCE: tire leaned in on top
It sounds like either you had a balljoint fail or your alignment/steering has had a serious failure.... did you hit or run over something before the problem?
The other possibility is a broken tie-rod end. Normally, this would not result in the wheel leaning on top- it would be sideways.
Either way, DO NOT DRIVE IT! this is SERIOUS and needs to be fixed ASAP! You can LOSE CONTROL without ANY WARNING!
This is a job for a trained mechanic and please...I beg you...get it TOWED and dont try and drive it!!!
Good Luck!
