Mazda rx-8 wont start

Ive had nothing but issues with this car since buying in May. it stalled once in August and wouldnt start randomly one day last month. i took it in to mazda and they had the balls to ask me why i didnt let the car warm up WHEN IT WOULDNT START PERIOD! they updated spark plugs and said they couldnt find anything wrong. Today i spent 1100 to get snow tires put on and had to drive home in the snow with them on and it stalled out twice on the way home and now will not start.

The first thing you need to do is have the electronic engine control system scanned for fault codes, this is called an "OBD2" fault code test.

SOURCE: Mazda 2005 RX-8 wont start... ran yesterday, lights on & sounds

I have a 2004 that had the same problem. It sounds like the engine might be flooded. The best thing to do is to remove the fuse to the fuel pump. It will be listed under the fuse cover under the hood. Mine was a 20 amp but check to be sure. With the fuse removed, crank the engine for a minute to remove any fuel flooding the engine. Replace the fuse and crank the engine in 10 second intervals without touching the gas or you will reflood the engine. This process can sometimes take awhile and will drain your battery, so have it connected to an additional power source ( i.e. another car battery or jump box). When the car finally cranks over there will be a huge cloud of smoke so don't be alarmed when it happens. Lastly some words to the wise. This process CAN ruin your starter, but is essentially the same process that the dealership will you except that they will remove the spark plugs to drain the fuel and then charge you for new ones. If this process doesn't work then you probably need new spark plugs which is going to cost quite a bit. I was quoted upwards of $525 to fix this problem until I talked to a Mazda mechanic and found out how to do this myself. Just make sure that the engine is up to running temperature before turning the car off and you shouldn't encounter this problem again. I hope this helps you, and remember that if all else fails the dealer can fix it. It won't be cheap, but they will get it done.

I almost forgot, you HAVE to get the oil changed as soon as possible because there is probably gas in the oil now.

SOURCE: runs for 3-4 min then stalls, wont start until next day.

i would look at those items first by checking battery voltage at fuel pump if car stalls but pump is still getting voltage then i would pull fuel filter back out and check to see if installed correctly also blowing through filter to make sure its not clogged in rare occasions can be defective or if installed backwards if possible can colapse inside should have arrow pointing towards direction of engine if all is well check relay then crankshaft sensor

Last friday i finally passed smog at a star location drove it straight home next morning it wouldnt start checked it was getting spark n gas we found distributeor capp damaged at router contact point...

Did you use a Mazda/Mitsubishi cap and rotor. Many of the aftermarkets can cause problems, especially rotors that do not fit on the dist shaft extremely tight. Aftermarket have a tendency to rotate on the shaft causing timing issues.
How many miles on motor?
There is nothing done at a smog test that will cause it not to start, just coincidence.
If you are getting spark on all four plugs and you are sure you are getting fuel, you need to have a compression test done to make sure there are no issues with the motor. There is a hose U shaped going from a dashpot aft right near carb, ~3in dia valve. Check the hose where it attaches at the back of the manifold. See if it is collapsed or cracked.

MAZDA 626 ENGINE RANDOM PAUSING/STALLING

The cooling system?? That would be my last guess, right after the spare tire. Sounds like an electrical issue. Quite often remote starters, especially those not installed at the factory, can cause these problems. Is there a "check engine" code?

2004 mazda wont start, blew a front tire and had to be put on rollback. Sat all nite, and now wont start. will crank and can smell fuel.

flooded engine common problem remove all plugs and fuel pump fuse. get fuel out of engine do not istall fuel pump fuse re install all plugs I suggest a good charger be used as system can kill batt very quick run to wires from fuel pump fuse into seating area start cranking the engine over wires not touching once compression sounds alright touch wires to geather (may have to repeat these deflooding wire touching procedure many times) once started do not turn off car till normal operating temp . Once hot turn car off remove wires and re install fuel pump fuse .With RX-8 u cannot just start and stop car right away as in washing car as it can produce this same condition ALWAYS let car warm up before turning off.

2005 mazda rx-8 automatic will not start

Does it actually crank? If so and doesnt start then its probably flooded. Been a problem with those cars since they came out but not to feel bad theres quite a few cars that flood easy do to certain sensors. If not turning over but just clicks then battery issue just keep in mind every time try to start and it doesnt that more fuel enters the system and doesnt burn off which means more flooding (to much fuel)

Mazda RX-8 Brakes

This normal for all rx's to do this. It is because of the large pads/disc area. The pads bond to the disc but free once the car is moved.
