In cold weather the 97 taurus will idle for a minute and kills when you put it in gear and start back up after waiting a few minutes. the filter is ok, fuel pump ok, mass air flow sensor is ok, new plugs installed and runs fine once it is warmed up

Check the vaccum hoses to make sure none are off and check the timing and also the drive belt and also check the vacuum hose behind the throttle body

1985 Ford Ranger 2.3 starts and idles good. But when put in gear dies until it reaches full temp.

Hmm...........
1985..........
Probably carb? Automatic choke not working? Remove air filter and spray carb with cleaner, Make sure all parts move freely. With engine cold, check automatic choke position. Start and check function as it warms up.

Idles but wont pull

First of all I need more information. But on a guess, I would say you might have a half shaft problem. Does the car go into gear?

No high idle for cold start have replaced IAC still nothing. truck idles at 1000 during cold or hot weather

Needs to be tested for power/ground and control signals at the IAC. Also should be smoke checked for vacuum leaks. Recommend a mechanic at this point as throwing parts at it has not fixed it.

Rough idling goes dead when u put it in gear r

This could be a engine missfire, a tune up may be required. You will need to have the computer tested to determine which cylinder may be causing the missfire then testing on that particular cylinder could be performed.

Cold weather won't idle, engine dies

Please check your idle controller whch is normally located near the air intake.Sometimes cleaning them and putting them back solve this problem.

Would changing the pos wire to the starter fix the mis fireing problem

If the positive wire is getting hot, then you have a bad connection on the ground wire. Take it off and clean the terminals and tighten then up. Ifyou don't want them to corrode any more then put some petroleum jelly on them. This prevents air from getting to them and in turn prevents oxidation. Good luck
