ENTERING SECURITY CODE

Most vehicles are equipped with Heidelberg V or VI radios that are equipped with a theft protection program. When the battery has been is disconnected or if the radio has been removed, the radio will lock-up electronically and cannot be operated until the security code is entered. On the Heidelberg V, if the proper code is not entered in six attempts, the radio will lock-up permanently and cannot be repaired. On the Heidelberg VI, two incorrect attempts will lock the radio for about 1 hour.
The Heidelberg V may have a code assigned at the factory or a personal code created by the owner. The Hiedelberg VI has a code assigned at the factory and entered by the dealer during pre-delivery inspection. New radios come with the code printed on a sticker but not entered into memory. All codes are 4 digits. To code the radio:
Heidelberg V

  1. Turn the radio ON . The radio should display the word SAF. DO NOT attempt to eject a cassette with the radio in this mode.
  2. Push the AM/FM and SCAN buttons at the same time and hold them until the display changes, then release them immediately. The number 1000 will appear for about 3 seconds, then the display will go blank. Release the buttons then.

NOTE If the buttons are held too long, the radio will interpret this as an attempt to enter an incorrect code.
  1. Use the first four station selector buttons to enter the code. The first digit of the code is always 1. Each time the other buttons are pushed, the number in that position will change.
  2. When the code appears correctly in the display, push the AM/FM and SCAN buttons at the same time. When the radio plays and displays a frequency, release the buttons.
  3. If the code was entered incorrectly three times, momentarily disconnect the battery and try again. If the code is entered incorrectly three more times, the radio cannot be coded and cannot be repaired.

  2. Push the AM/FM and SCAN buttons at the same time and hold them until the display changes, then release them immediately. The number 1000 will appear and remain in the display.

  3. If the code was entered incorrectly two times, leave the radio ON for one hour and try again. This can be repeated as often as required.

Press BND/AST button about 3 seconds, three minus sign appear on the display. Use button 1 to set the 1st digit of the code, every time you press '1' the digit grows, then use '2' to insert the 2nd digit, and so on . After inserting all the digits, press again BND/AST 3 seconds to confirm the code and, if it' s the right, the radio is unlocked. The number on the left of the four '----' is the counter of times you made to enter the code.

I change the battery of my golf 3 1996 the radio stacked in the safe mode HOW TO INSERT THE CODE THANKS

Turn on the radio so it says SAFE.Press and hold the MODE and SCAN buttons simultaneously for a few seconds until the display says 1000. LET GO OF THE BUTTONS.Enter your 4-digit radio code using the first 4 buttons on the radio. For example, if your code is 0213 press the 1 button once to clear the one - it will be blank. Press the number 2 button twice, the number 3 button once, and the number 4 button 3 times.Press and hold the MODE and SCAN buttons again simultaneously for a few seconds until it displays a radio station, then let go. I believe if you screw up you get one more chance to re-enter it before you have to let the car sit with the radio on for an hour.

Need code for my acura tl 2000 model

If you mean the RADIO code........
The radio code is printed on a card, that is inserted in a slot at the front of your user's manual.

When you start the car, and the radio says CODE, all you do is key in the code numbers using
the radio presets buttons numbered 1-6 below the display.

Radio code : put new battery in and radio says put code in and i have but does not turn on

Pull the radio and get the model # and serial number from the radio. Got to the dealer and ask them to verify that it is the correct radio for you vin. You only get three attempts to insert code. Disconnect battery, wait 20 minutes, then apply code. Push buttons fully and pause. Hope this helps

Changed battery now radio wants code only have half of manual

Either you or a previous owner programmed a security code into the radio. This keeps a potetial thief from installing your radio into another vehicle. If you don't know the code that was programmed into it, then you will have to take it to your local dealer, where they can insert a universal code (the identity of which they will not release to anyone) which will override and/or erase any other code. Once they do this, you will usually have the option of inserting your own code. (like using or changing your PIN) DONT lose it, or you will have the same problem the next time you have a dead battery.
