check the headlight switch, even though the headlights may work right the switching components inside the switch are separate

Check your tail light fuse . It is probably blown . You might have to repair your tail light circuit if the fuse blows when you replace it . The taillight fuse feeds the instrument and dash lights when you turn the headlight switch on . If the taillight fuses blown none of your instrument lights will work .

If you keep blowing fuses, you have a short somewhere in your wiring system. The ONLY way to fix this is to trace ALL your wires, and find the one that is grounding itself out by not having any insulation around it. Which means you can see the wire itself.
