1997 buick skylark wont start

Car wont start, when i try to start it all i hear is a click coming from the engine. its sounds to me like the thing wants to start but something is not sparking. it will start occasionally but then i go 2 days with nothing.

it wont even crank it just clicks. i'm thinking it might be the spark plugs because i just had the starter replaced 2 months ago.

Does it crank and not start or not even crank. You could have a bad starter. I would test the battery first. When it won't start try to jump start it. If it jump starts it's probably the battery. If it won't jump start it's probably the starter.

Have you tested your battery? If the starter is 2 months old it could be the battery then again if you put an Auto Zone starter in it  then it could be the starter. Just because its relatively new doesn't mean it didn't go bad.

1997 Buick Skylark sometimes wont start

Your car's alarm might have bad wiring or connectors. You could try cleaning & reconnecting them. Or use a multimeter to see if you can find connectivity issues.

If the alarm itself might be the culprit, having a garage remove/disconnecting it is the cheapest solution (less than a $100), having it replaced could be really expensive ...

This sounds like a computer problem or bad connection, check all your battery connections and grounds. can you have it scanned for codes at an auto parts store, and see if there are any codes stored in the computer.

I have a 1997 buick skylark custom problems

I too have a 97 buick skylark custom, that hasn't been cranking. Heres what I have figured out so far, so you may have the same problem. Heres the first question - Is the theft system light flashing when you try to crank the car? Cause if it is, it means the car isn't wanting to recognize your key as the correct key which is causing the car to go into tamper mode which disables fuel to the engine, in which case you have to turn the key back to the start position and wait for the light to stop flashing then try to crank it again.

P.S. i'm not sure why this other thing would be a problem but i lost my gas cap right before this started happening and someone told my that might trigger the sensor, do you have yours?

97 buick skylark wont start

if starter fluid made it chug, I would suspect fuel pump fuse, relay or pump, also fuel filter.
