You have to take it into the dealership for a 1999. the dealer needs to change the settings in the BCM (body control module). in 2000, the BCM came preprogrammed to allow the owner to change the door lock settings at home. unfortunately for a 1999, it has to be done at the dealership.

Just cut that light blue wire at the brown plug. Nearest drivers door on brown plug. Wire you need is right beside a white wire, left side of this brown plug on BCM. Body Control Module. I put a simple switch in, on the dash. Cut the light blue wire off at a reasonable distance from BCM plug. (I UNPLUGGED THE BCM BROWN CONNECTOR FIRST) Ran a jumper wire from light blue to my switch. From switch, I ran a wire back into truck end of light blue wire.
How this works now: If I want to use power locks, I turn switch on, then press lock button on my door. If I want to use my keyless entry remote, I turn switch on before leaving truck, then use my keyless entry remote lock button. If I want to lock my doors while in the truck, I turn the switch on, and hit the lock button on the door.
enjoy.
PS... I installed my switch where fog light switch would have been if my truck had em. Just a tiny round on/off 12v switch.

What is the fix for auto door lock on my 2007 chevy silverado engage and disengage while driving on the freeway after the vehicle is warm

Try disengaging the "Auto Lock" feature in the Driver Information System when shifting in/out of Park and at a certain MPH. If that keeps it from doing it, you know the BCM Body Control Module is controlling the action. It could be it "thinks" it's unlocked when it not. May need to replace the power lock assembly. You could also try taking the battery cables off to reset the PCM/BCM. That may fix it too. Worst case, it is the BCM, and they are not cheap. Good Luck!

1999 Chevy silverado z71trying to program a new key fob

Use this procedure for New Body Style.
1. Close all doors
2. Insert key into ignition
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel, continue to hold down
until instructed to release in step 9.

4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
6. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
8. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
9. Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. The vehicle should respond by
door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go,
not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming
mode and you must start procedure over. Remove key from ignition, open drivers door
and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10.

10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and
unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds.

11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes).
12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode.
13. Test remote(s).

Remote Door Lock/Unlock will not work.

At first look, I would have guessed that your battery in the door opener was dead, but that is not the case. I suggest driving to a nearby Chevy dealer and ask one of the salesman if he/she can help. They have always been helpful to me. If not try another one as they are in business to sell not only cars, but service also. They will be your best bet to fixing it. :D
