  1. Remove the IP trim bezel.
  2. Pull out the lamp switch, 4WD shift buttons, cargo lamp and air deflector louver assembly in order to disconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Disconnect all the electrical connectors from the lamp switch, cargo lamp and 4WD shift buttons assembly.
  4. Remove the lamp switch, 4WD shift buttons, cargo lamp and air deflector louver assembly from the vehicle
  5. Remove the electrical harness retainer from the IP support beam.
  6. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the transfer case shift control module.
  7. Move the electrical harness to the left side in order to make room to turn the transfer case shift control module.
  8. Rotate the transfer case shift control module about 45 degrees counter clockwise while pulling out at the same time until the module is approximately 90 degrees from the original position.
  9. Pull out the module from the vehicle

How do you disconnect the plastic piece that the switches and vent are attached to? Also, how do you detach the vent from the plastic housing? I realize these are probably simple questions, but I don't want to break something if there is a simple trick to doing it.

SOURCE: 4 wheel drive on 02 chevy silverado not working

There is a solinoid on the front differential that shifts the front in and out of 4wd, that could be it.

4 wheel drive doesnt work 4 wheel selector lights do not come on 1999 chevy Silverado 1500

Can't be to sure with yours. It maybe the switch. On my 2002, I found I had a Transfer Case Control Module issue. Shopped around and found one on Amazon for half the price the local box stores wanted. I would Google this before starting to buy a bunch of parts.

My 2002 chevy silverado locks up and won't move in 4 wheel drive

most if all problems with the chevy 4x4 at the beginning of problems are the electronics the switches they put crap in the truck and wonder why so many problems to anyone whom sees a problem at the start should first and i mean first clean all the contacts on 4x4 switches the two on the dash and then one on transfer case the one inside the dash sits where people sit drinks like coffee then it runs down dash and onto the switch inside dash you need to take it out clean it good i have fixed more 4x4 problems with doing this first you will not hear this from the dealerships they will tell you you need to replace them when all it is that they need a good cleaning i also take the switch on dash apart and clean contacts then the lights work please try contact cleaner first and more times over it will fix your problems

02 chevy silverado 4x4 service light always on and stuck in 2 wheel drive.

You need to have the dealer scan the control module to see what codes show in memory

I got my 2002 chevy blazer with ZR2 package into deep water and shorted out my 4 wheel drive control module (located under the kick plate on the passenger side). I took the module out and had it replaced...

what sounds like is happening is the front end is not disengaging, it will not hurt it to drive without the module, but you need to find out why the front diff. actuator is not releasing. their is a shift motor on the transfer case, module and switch in the cab, and actuator on the front diff. all are susceptable to water, I would suggest getting a manual on it to aid in diagnostics

1999 chevy silverado service 4 wheel drive light

I had a similar problem with the Service 4 Wheel Drive light which came on intermittently then became more consistent in the message center display. It would go into 4 wheel drive if the message center did not display the Service 4 Wheel Drive message in the message center, but not when the message was displayed. I found the transfer case switch module in the dash was defective, and it has been working with no other problems for three years.

Chevy steering wheel controls

You first have to disarm and remove the air bag (unscrews with bolts from behind the steering wheel) and then you will see the screws for the switches. Only the silverado awitches will work.
