I can solve this, im a sidekick expert.

if your car is federal car (not calif) it has a SES lamp mileage nag.
this nag can come on at 50k, 80k and 100k and repeats.
here is my web page just to solve this issues. guaranteed to be good.

You know about the hidden switch, don't you? it's located between the steering column and the speaker on the left end of the dash, its right under the dashboard.Flip that switch and your check engine light will go out. and to clear the code (from the PCM) disconnect the negative battery cable for about 10 minutes

1991 sidekick, xjl alt blew up battery replaced both now wont start, checked fuses good, turns over no start.any ideas

cranks but wont start.
only a shorted starter can do that.
or alternator gone nuts but that blows the 60amp fuse seen here
you can do lots.
first and always first. check all fuse, (TEST THEM)
I had a car back in 1972 that (mech, really alternator reg)
that went nuts and blew up every lamp in car, at midnight far from home, in a bad neighborhood too.. scary, but engine ran.
your car is EFI,
and is only safe up to 15VDC< over that you blow up ECU
or if lucky (only the 3 ECU fuses blow)
is the CEL lamp working in the cluster,? if no the fuses blew.
the 3 fuses are
IG coil
FI
and dome.
there are 50 reasons for no start but based off one fact
i say fuses.
testing fuses. matters
if they look bad the are,
if they look good, they can be in fact bad,(called hairline cracks)
we test them did you? really test them,i do it live using a voltmeter
the meter NEVER EVER lies.
see? using a meter avoids going down the wrong path to H3LL.
(dog chasing tail)
now what if you measured the 3 power pins on the ECU behind
left speaker (sold my 91,4wd/2door, restored by me)
the ECU has power, (i have the schematic)
if it has power, the CEL must glow, or the ECU was burned up.
1991 are all 8valve cars, then
simple schm.

I put 92 running engine into my 95 sidekick now cant get it to start, its getting gas,its getting fire to plugs ,

You have to make sure the ECU's are the same. Encase you don't know the ECU is the engines computer. It may require programming from who ever carries the software to do so. Typically a dealer would have to do this for you

No voltage to throttle body on a suzuki samuri

this this all stock car, as most sammi are vastly modified, now.
common mod is put in Sidekick G16B engine.
so is it stock 1.3L?
that be first question, and if car is EFI and is stock or G16
the TPS needs 5vdc from the ECU.
if the ECU 5vdc ref pin is dead there are only 2 causes.
1: ECU bad.
2: this line is shorted.

1992 had 3 engines. 1.3 , 1.6 TBI and 1.6 MPI
throttle body or Multipoint injection (4 injectors) vastly different.
ECU TBI , pin a23 is 5vdc, if the map shorts, this can blow out the 5vde regulator,
ECU MPI. pin B6 runs only the TPS. sensors. (simple)

best practice here is to post displacement of engine,
and ECU part number. ECU suffix is all we need. and bingo.
I have all Suz, part. number, in my book. for all parts and all ECU.
(usa and canada)

The ECU shops (cardone is tops in USA) the first test
is the 5v pin, #1 off the dime. that.
the Sidekick ECU 8valve ECU. TBI , the 5vdc pin loves to burn the
pcb trace to kingdom come.
see that here.
examples see suz, page for 5v
http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/ecu-8v-sig-list/e76.jpg

see blown trace
the trace in front of this zener diode blows.
(usually customers hot wiring stuff (evil)
http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/5vdc-Refr-supply/56B30-5VDC.jpg

the acutal blown trace (and zener blown too)
is here see it, (if real sammi, it will be i different loc.)
this is a Sidekick G16A TBI ECU. 56Bxx
http://www.fixkick.com/look/ECU-secrets/images/33920-56B30_B15_damaged_trace-B15.jpg

how is that?
need more , ask /?

id bet cardone didnt check your ecu, (some fleabayer?)

Safe Mode stays on

Lets get things straight first, When you safe mode do you mean it's in Limp home mode? When you say the light stays on and does not flicker are you referring to the engine ECU light. If the ECU light is on then there must be a fault code in the systems 100% has to be. Please be more specific.

Auto transmission

I believe this is a warning of a transmission problem (flashing S4 light), and u should have it checked by a good trans. shop or dealer. When The engine light comes on and stays on,(does it only go on when the S4 light flashes?)it is a warning of a problem (fuel injection/emissions system), which u can check by doing the following: There is a Electronic Control Unit (ECU), located under the carpet on the passenger (front) side near where your feet would be. There is an LED display on the ECU, the display is a small circle, I believe located at the top center of the ECU. When u get the ECU exposed(by pulling back the carpet), turn the key on, and observe the LED. If any codes were stored regarding a problem, the LED will flash. Count the flashes, Codes 1 thru 9 are a series of short flashes, two digit codes use a long flash for the 1st digit, and a short flash for the 2nd digit. Codes are separted by a pause between displays. If u have multiple codes , they are transmitted in a alternating pattern. Time and space make it hassle to list all codes ( there are 19 for the 91 Prelude), so if u want to go ahead and check the codes, let me know what they are , and I'll tell u what they mean. Good Luck! countrycurt0
