Question about 2005 Ford Taurus
Recently my car was in a minor accident. the car bottomed out after hitting the side of a building. it made it on top of a hill where it shut it self off. i went back to start it up and it want kick over. the starter, alternator and the battery is just fine. the car has gas in it but it still want kick over. i am wondering does the tauras has a kill switch or something like that that protects the car from further damages. if it does, how do i over ride it so i can get my car to start up
Your car does have a fuel pump shut off switch. You can check your owner's manual. I found a copy of it online and they say it's on the right side of your trunk behind one of the service panels. the following info is right from the Ford manual.
Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by
pushing down on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and
return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.
Lastly, start you car up as normal. If it still doesn't start, don't put stress on your starter, turn the key on and off slowly a few times, then try starting it again. If this doesn't work, something else may be going on.
