I have a 93 Cavalier with the 2.2 just recently put motor back into car and it has not started yet. These things I have replaced:Ignition Control Module, Coil Packs, Crank Sensor, VSS, ECM under dash, cam sensor, map sensor.what do people think could be wrong it is getting good spark to all cylinders and it is getting good fuel.

oh yea it cranks just fine and sometimes it will actually hit and come close to starting but just wont go ahead and fully start.

I did check the timing while I had the motor out I replaced timing chain and both gears and was set dead on. I havent checked the tail pipe but I do know that the air breather tube mounted on the valve cover that hooks into the air cleaner blows alot of air out while cranking. I have had all 4 injectors checked and seem to be all pumping same amount of fuel. thanks again.

Ok I just went out and had my ole lady crank it and there is plenty of air coming from the tail pipe.

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2009

Ok if I use an ohm meter to check the injectors then do uwhat the reading of them should be between?

Also I did already check compression and all are over 120

I got my car running now. I feel real stupid but all it was was the #1 plug wire goes to the #4 coil pack and #4 plug goes to #1 coil pack I put it that way and it fired right up sounds good thanks to all the people for their help and support.

Start with checking the timing if you already haven't and while cranking feel if any air is coming out of the tailpipe to make sure the catalytic converter isn't clogged. Than test the fuel injectors.

Use an ohm meter to test the injectors because they can still be spraying fuel out but not enough to start the engine and it's hard to tell the difference by looking at them. Also pressure test the cylinders. I'll make some phone calls today and see if I can come up with anything else. Good luck

If your injectors test out to be all ok than you have to check your fuel pressure, your fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump could be malfunctioning.

93 Cavalier spraying lots of fuel.

what exactly is happening if you have a spark plug out of a cylinder you will get fuel out of it? is fuel leaking? are O-rings replaced and use silicone to lube them NOT OIL! oil destroys rubber O-rings.
even if there are wire problems you should not get fuel leaking anywhere. fix your fuel leak first. this can cause a vacuum problem and GMs dont like vacuum leaks.
