I've lost my keys to my Mitsubishi Colt 2003 what do I do. The locksmiths asked me what is the key number? I had no idea my keys had a number what do I do?

Unfortunately this is going to be an expensive fix. Most modern cars have electronics inside the key which communicates with the immobiliser system in the vehicle. This is what the 'Key Number' is for. It is specific to only your car as it is there to prevent the car being stolen.
You will need to replace the entire ignition barrel and contact a Mitsubishi dealer with your details to get the Key Number for your car. You will then need to buy new keys and have them coded to your car's immobiliser system using the Key Number.

2002 Saturn. I lost the keys. I can buy a used steering column. Will I still have to reprogram the car?

Save a lot of money by calling a locksmith to make a new set of keys. A service call is way cheaper than replacing the column. I hope this helps. Take care.

Key fob reprogram

Some locksmiths have the machinery to do this but you will have to shop around for them. The problem is that the new key has to be programmed to the immobiliser in the car so the dealer wants the car and the new key to complete the job.. When you consider that to have the job done on a lot of cars the job costs $25.00 for the key .$25.00 to have the key cut and $450 + to have it programmed I consider $200.00 to be reasonable

I have lost my car key its a daewoo lanos how do i go about getting a new one?

Most of the time you have to go to the dealer with the owner's papers(registration,Title,Loan) they can cut a new one from codes. In your case the auto has been discontinued,??.You can see an Auto Locksmith for help,be prepared for ignition replacement.Good Luck.

Lost key

You cannot disable the immobiliser. If it were that easy, any car theif could defeat it by searching the internet. If you dont have any more master keys, you will have to have your local Toyota dealer reseed (reprogram) the immobiliser code, and program new keys for you. It should be about 2 hours labor and cost of keys, but only a dealer can do it. They need to use the Toyota scan tool, and access a Toyota only website with security codes.
