There are many possibilities. It could even be that it is out of gas. If unknown, take it to an auto shop to have it looked at.
and i think you can do it by yourself , but you need a diagnostic tools. if you want to buy one you can click here: allobd2.com

If all the coils are giving spark now, then you moat likely have gas fouled plugs now,so change them out with new ones, all 8 of them.If you do not have spark on all plug wires, pull the timing belt cover, and align the cam shaft and the cam,to see if the belt has jumped. If It hasn`t,replace the crankshaft sensor.

Replace the TFI module. Ford back in 1986 thur 1993 had problems like the one you wrote about. TFI module gets hot and shuts car or truck off then when it cools sometmies starts and sometimes not.

If you confirmed spark is there, and you hear fuel pump working, I'd still try spraying WD-40 in throttle body intake for a couple of seconds, when it won't start, just to see if it kicks over, just in case pump is running but not up to pressure. If it fires for a second or 2 with WD-40, then you know lack of fuel is the problem.

you must test to find your problem start by checking for spark if you have spark than test for fuel if you have fuel and no spark it will be one of these things coil, cam position sensor, crankshaft position sensor ignition switch ,ecm, or bad or loose connection, or connections on your wireing
if is a fuel problem test pressure on fuel rail .this takes a fuel pressure gauge. (auto zone loans these at no charge if no pressure check for blown fuel pump fuse ,also check your emergancy fuel cut off switch ( reset it) if still no pressure check for broken fuel line, pluged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump.)
Hope this was helpful if you have any other questions I will try to answer them for you. if this was helpful please rate the solutions.
Make sure you have gas in tank fuel gauges go bad also and may not be accurate.
check your emergancy cut off switch in trunk usually on drivers side looks like a small usually red button make sure you reset it its supposed to shut off fuel in case of a rear end collision but they do trip accidentely and shut down fuel supply.
