This is a sealed transmission with no dipstick and in normal use never needs servicing., see the dealer if service is needed due to aleak or failure.

It will most likely be on backside of engine, drivers side is a good bet but could be passengerside also. Add fluid through the same spot you check it.

SOURCE: how do i check transmissiom fluid 2006 jetta

Hi there,

Jetta's 2006 carry sealed gear box. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. Per manufacturer, transmission fluid requires to change unless there is any issue with transmission. I hope this helps.

Can't find dip stick for transmition

There is a dipstick, most likely rear drivers side of engine but could be elsewhere. There are only 2 dipsticks in engine compartment, one is oil and the other is trans fluid. They should be marked. You add the fluid down the dipstick tube. Engine needs to be running in park and trans needs to be at operating temp to get accurate measurement on fluid. Hope this helps.

I cant find the dip stick for the auto transmission. I looked everywhere. Just dont know. I never owned a VW before, and bought a 96 Jetta gls auto. Help please....

it is my understanding that you have to take it to vw dealer or a vw mechanic and have them check or change tranny fluids. not positive bout it but that is what i was told. daughter just got a jetta turbo and that is what we were told by a friend of hers that has one.

I have a 2000 vw jetta and the transmission slips and cant find the dip stick to check if its low what can i do for the transmission to shift right?

Slipping doesn't start all of a sudden,
even if your loosing fluid

99% of the time, your going to be rebuilding the trans

That may be in a couple of weeks, if you keep
driving it

I would stop by a trans repair shop ,
and have them show you what ever you
need to know

CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID SOUND LIKE VECHICLE SLIPPING DUE TO LACK OF FLUID. CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID ON DIP STICK. WHILE ENGINE COLD FLUID LEVEL ON DIP STICK SHOULD FULL MARK.CRANK ENGINE LET VECHICLE IDLE TO WARM.THEN HOLD FOOT ON BRAKE SHIFT THROUGH ALL GEARS FEW TIMES CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL IF LOW ADD FLUID UNTIL YOU GET TO FULL MARK.IF YOU HAVE THE TRANSMISSION WITH NO DIP STICK.YOU NEED TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID + FILTER. YOU NEED 7 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID.BUY DEALERSHIP TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET ITS THICKER MADE DIFFERENT WONT LEAK FLUID. THE TRANSMISSION GASKETS AT AUTO PARTS STORES TOO THIN LEAK FLUID BAD.

Where to add gear oil to transmission on a 1995 vw jetta manual trans

you must get under the car, there will be 2 large bolts that should jump out from the rest. the lower 1 is the drain, the upper 1 is for adding fluid. Manual trans dont have fill necks or dip sticks under the hood like automatic transmissions.

Cant find where to add trans fluid on 97 jetta 5 speed

A standard 5 speed does not have a dip-stick for the trans. You have to get it from underneath the car. There will be 2 fairly large plugs, one on the bottom of the trans and one about 1/4 of the way up the side. The bottom one is to drain it, the top one is to check/fill it. You remove the plug with a 1/2 inch drive rachet(no socket) The fluid should be able to be felt or maybe run out a little when you stick your finger into the hole. Make sure you use what ever the manufactorer recomends for fluid. Some standards use 90w gear oil, some use ATF fluid. If you use the wrong type, you can mess up your trans.

If your thinking that your needing fluid because the trans is slipping, you are wrong, you need to replace your clutch.
