Jeep 2012 Wrangler 4 door sport unlimited.. When I go from park to drive or reverse..once it engages gear..there is a squeak that sounds as if brake squeaking sort of..it doesn't do this till after warm..driving for a bit..I then can hold the brake while switching to drive..then to reverse..then to drive..it does this noise everytime then..also, it will do after I've cut the engine off..the dealership thought maybe a solenoid or maybe transmission..but, it drives perfect far as transmission..it only does this a split second after going into drive, reverse, or after engine shut off..sometimes when in 1st gear it seems..it's an automatic btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

First off we can hear it , see or or drive it,
so... answer will tend to be useless, on NOISE
why not find source of the noise first.
so it does it parked with brakes on, making the source(Location)
10x more easy and 100x more safe to find. no?
why not demo it to shop, and bingo, found. all in minutes
they open the hood and hear the fan belts sing, they are bad.
but can be something loose. (id say too ,not the trans)
when you shift, do say drive, the engine twists, and trans and all drive shifts engaged, (rear) 2wd.
so any of that can make noise, even a loose mount.
and more lots more. find a real mechanic, ASE shop
and not stealerships, that want to sell you a new trans for $3000
a good shop has an electronic stethoscope, that can find locations 99% of the time. (not u-joints do to they spin and make noise then mostly)

the stealershop is too busy to test, they stack money, only there.

It could be lash in the differential which is normal, but it could also be a loose u-joint in the driveshaft. Check the rear driveshaft u-joints.

SOURCE: Once in Drive, Jeep does not easily shift back to Park

Try to check the trans mission gears of your 1995 jeep grand cherokee. The shift fork and the clutch sleeve of the trans mission is locking to the other gears .And then also check the starter motor and its solenoid.if the starter motor solenoid is destroyed or worn out replace .

SOURCE: Jeep Wrangler 1998 straight drive has difficult

if this is a 5 speed manual transmission...all you need to do before putting your jeep into reverese is puting it into first gear and then shifting it to reverse to avoid any grinding or problems shifting into reverse...this isn't a problem just a poor jeep design by not installing an extra gear to eliminate this grinding or shifting problem

How do you tighten the parking brake on my wrangler?

the adjuster inside the drum disk must be turned back to re leave the tension, the if you need to adjust you can take up slack on the cable adjuster after you re install the drum/disc, and re tighten the tension-er then you can repeat this until parking brake hold's

2014 jeep wrangler unlimited mode control light flashes when I start jeep

I'm not clear on what you mean by: "Mode Light".
there are dozens of indicators on the dash, and some of them have multiple functions.
on model year 2010 and up, there is an "Eco Mode" that displays on the left display, with tachometer.
there are also specific warning codes that flash across the odometer display, with the speedometer. A particularly lethal code is: "Hot Oil". I experience this code driving 8 mph in the soft sand dunes of the outer banks NC. Less than 3 minutes later I lost all forward and reverse gears. The automatic transmission had overheated, due,to the the fact that Wrangler JK's do not engage the torque converter in 4WD High range until 3rd gear. So use Low-Range with automatics 2007-2012. The 3.6L 8-speed automatics do not have this problem 2013-newer.
Can you describe the color, location, shape, and possibly provide a picture?

What is a 4 wheel drive switch

Depending on the make and model, it could be the control switch on the dash or the switch that moves the gears in the transfer case.

Did you check your ATF level? I have an ATF leak somewhere and when my ATF gets really low my auto trans will keep slipping out of gear until I dump another quart or two of ATF fluid into the trans.
