Seems like a short circuit in 95 gmc jimmy

I haven't had one of the push pins inside the door to operate the interior lights for years and yet any time I opened or closed the door any door I haven't had an issue with the interior lights. Recently I have been having problems with the interior lights staying on which as a result drains the battery. I pulled the interior lights out of the vehicle to keep the circuit from complete ting in hopes that I could save the battery and yet it's still draining my battery. I have also began hearing this ticking noise and the best way to describe it is if anyone is familiar with the keypad feature on an IPhone. You know the irritating ticking feature that some people including myself turns off. I digress, this noise is right behind the lights switch at least it seems to be coming from that area when inside the vehicle.

SOURCE: Door Ajar Warning Light Stays On

Our Ford Expedition & an Olds Silhouette Premier & both did the same thing. Someone online said to spray the inside door where the metal connects with the frame & sensors are there with WD-40. We did & it fixed the problem. Maybe this will work for yours.

SOURCE: battery keeps dying due to radio+clock staying on

you have a parasitic load(the device will stay on when car is off drains battery), take the negaitve battery cable off when you turn the car off will fix the problem temporarily, you have to take it into a qualified electrical mechanic and he can fix it for you.

SOURCE: Interior Light sometimes will not shut off in Ford Ranger Pick up

If I am not mistaken, the plunger is located in the door with the latch. Most of the time you can just pull the door panel off and adjust the switch. After opening and closing the door, they get knocked out of adjustment. I sincerely hope that this helped you. Take care and best wishes.

SOURCE: My interior light no longer come on when the door is Open

I am not real sure about this but my 2001 Blazer has this option. Right by the headlight switch is a button called the dome over-ride and if this is activated the interior domes will not work. Try that and if this is not the case let me know and I will look farther into it.

Cant find the hook up to plug in the adapter for my trailer lights on my 1995 gmc jimmy

Hi Stoker, I'm not very sure what it is you can't do. Are you looking for the connector for your trailer? If so and you can't find it, maybe you need to install one? It's not such a tough job but it will take time, a voltage test meter and a few other tools. Uncover the electrical harness with the cables for the rear light units. Identify each circuit and the pins on the trailer for those lights and connect into those circuits and making sure you match the pins. Test the connections, not forgetting to attach the earth cable. Regards John

1996 Jimmy brake light fuse keeps blowing even when you open the door any suggestions?

CHECK YOUR CIGARETTE LIGHTER FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS, (COINS, PAPERCLIPS) MOST GMC OF THAT YEAR HAVE LIGHTERS THAT SHORT OUT. ALSO TRY DISCONNECTING THEM. DOME LAMPS, CIGARETTE LIGHTERS, VANITY MIRRORS, STOP LAMPS ARE ON THE SAME CIRCUIT. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

I just got a new battery installed for my 1995 GMC Jimmy. Upon installation I discovered that my interior lights were on. I've tried installing another battery, checking the fuses, and checking the switch...

clean and lubricate the switches in the door jamb, and spray with lubricant the door latches-worst case just remove the bulbs until you can spend some time chasing it down, and just because, make certain you don't have the interior lights switched on at the dash (it happens)

Everytime someone sit in the passenger seat of my GMC JIMMY, my interior lights start flickering and my radio goes out. Why is this?

I remember having a slightly older GMC Jimmy doing this every once in a while. I was young at that point, but I believe that there are a few of the interior wires that run very close under the carpet, and sitting on the seat mashes the wires to the ground, after a while, it rubs the insulation off, and allows it to short circuit back to the battery.

Jimmy electrical burning.

The wire has rubbed somewhere and is shorted to ground. Replace the wire from the door switch to the light, replace the fuse with one of the correct amperage and it should work. Disconnect the battery while you are replacing the wire.

95 Jimmy Horn and Rear Hatch Window Release Quit Working

Yes your horn/dome lights use the same fuse as well as there is numerous other circuits that feed off this fuse like radio illumination. If you unplug the new radio does the problem go away? Could be a short in radio which I have seen or maybe pinched a wire when installing radio
