Replacing alternator belt on 2007 1.3 cdti combo is it easy to do

Loosen alternator, push it towards the block until belt is loose. Pull the belt off and replace. Once the new belt is on push the alternator away from the block until belt is tight and tighten bolt/bolts. You might need a bar to keep tension on the alternator while tightening bolt/bolts.

Replace alternator belt

  • Locate the two belts on the left side (passenger side) of your Mitsubishi Lancer. The outer belt is a serpentine belt, operating four pulleys and the inner belt is your alternator belt.

  • 2

Follow the serpentine (outer) belt to the three pulleys lined up vertically near the front of the engine compartment. Locate the middle pulley, which is the tension pulley for the belt.

  • 3

Loosen the bolt on the middle pulley with a socket wrench by turning counter-clockwise. Do not remove the bolt, just turn it a couple of times. Loosen the tensioner bolt on the side of the of the pulley, facing the front of the vehicle.

  • 4

Remove the serpentine belt and then loosen the bolt on the alternator. With the alternator loose, move it forward so that the alternator belt loosens up and then remove belt from the pulleys.

  • 5

Install the new alternator belt by placing it over both inside pulleys. Tighten the tension on the alternator belt by moving the alternator back and keeping tension on it by holding it back with a long screwdriver. While the alternator belt is tight, use a socket wrench to tighten up the bolt on the alternator.

  • 6

Place the serpentine belt back on the pulleys and then use a socket wrench on the bolt on the front of the tension pulley. Once the serpentine belt is tight, tighten up the bolt in the middle of the tension pulley.

  • 7

Start the Mitsubishi Lancer's engine to test the alternator belt and make sure it is working properly. Once you have verified it is working, turn the engine off.

How do I replace an alternator on a 2000 VW Passat 1.8T. How hard is it to replace?

    it isnt that hard actually

disconect positive battery terminal. and feel the tension on the laternator belt. you will need to bring it back to this tension.

1.) loosen bolts holding alternator in place (LOOK AT THE BELT TO REMEMBER HOW IT GOES, BEST NOT REMOVE THE BELT.)

2.) loosen bolts holding wires to alternator and connect wires to new alternator

3.) Place alternator in engine, replace bolts but dont tighten

4.) put belt in place, it will be slack, use your tire iron or a piece of pipe or wood to pry the alternator back, to bring tension on the belt. You pry the alternator to pull the belt as TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. while holding strain, on it, tighten the bolts.

Smooth wheel on the timing belt rattles butnut in middle is tight

The timing belt is not on the outside of engine. What you are describing might be the belt tensioner. The bolts you speak of in alternator are the mounting bolts. If the "smooth" wheel is vibrating, then replace the wheel. That is the belt tensioner.

Step by step instructions replace alternator on a 2000 Lincoln Continental

Hello, first of all disconet your battery. Then locate your alternator and remove the wiring. You will then see two bolts, one is for your fan belt adjustment, take this bolt out and dont loose it. The second bolt is much longer, this is the bolt that allows you to move your alternator back and forth so that you can tighten your fan belt. Remove this and as you pull it out hold onto yoour alternator as it will now come out. You then position new alternator sliding long bolt back in place. Do it up but not tightly at this point. Replace the smaller bolt and make sure that you put your fan belt back on. Pull the alternator tighly onto the fan belt before tightening the smaller bolt. Once the fan belt is tight you can then tighten the long bolt. Reconct your wiring, reconect you battery and you should be right to go. If theres a squealing sound when you start the car you may have to retighten your fan belt, you dont need to take any wiring off to do this. I hope this is helpfull.

Unplug the connector on the back of the alternator, remove the bolts holding alternator to the mounting bracket.
replace the alternator, start in the bolts, and set the belt on. now use a small pry bar, to hold pressure against the alternator to tighten the belt. while holding belt tight, tighten down the mounting bolts. rehook connector on rear of alternator. if you feel safer, unhook the battery + terminal before you start the replacement.
