On my 2004 toyota 4 runner the heater fan stays on high or medium high all the time i have the automatic climate controll as well as the fan speed switch but it does not seem to make any diffrence which button i press the fan stays on the same speed all the time, the indicator in the vehicle that shows the addition or subtraction of little squares as the fan speed changes seems to work but the fan speed does not. one day when this first started the fan did not work at all i checked the fuses when i took out the heater relay and put it back in the fan started working so i thought this was the problem and replaced it but it does not work right Thanks for your help
SOURCE: blower works. However, only at one speed: LOW. no matter if set at low, medium, or high.
After two summers of sweating under the sun, it's fixed!!! There were two wires which looked like ground wires right above the glove box. One of the two wires was almost totally severed due to an overstuffed glove box. I guess every time I open and close the glove box, paperwork in the glove box push the wire up and down. It's like bending the wire back and fourth. Over time the 2-3 mm thick wires slowly sever. Upon inspection, my wires only had 3 strands holding it together which explains the fan staying on the low position due to slow ground. I re-attached the wires and soldered them back into place. Now my AC works like new - thanks to Mathew the Mechanic.. Thank you for asking. I really hope this posting helps someone with the same unique problem.
SOURCE: blower fan
Sounds like the problem is more with the blower motor assembly itself. The blower motor have micro-proccers built itnto them which comunicate with the control heads and do the actual regulating of the fan motor. Dealers have computers with diagnostic software which allows them to monitor what is happening in the eletronic controls of the vehicle. Electronic diagnostics without the diagnostic software makes it very diffecult to pinpoint the actual item causing the problem.
SOURCE: heater blower went out?
Either the blower went bad or the heater relay went bad. This does not sound like a heater core problem unless you where smelling a SWEET smell when it was running.
SOURCE: The low/med/high fan switch on
Hi,
Don't go there just yet ! Most heater motor speed problems relate to the heater resistor ! It's located in the ducting close to the motor assy and usually has 4/5 wires on to it and a 2 screw fixing. This componant must be cooled (hence air duct location) and is solely responsible for motor speeds ! You can check motor fan by test lamp/meter ! Good Luck
SOURCE: blower fan not working at
check the freon there are high and low pressure swithes and will prevent a/c from workin
to protect compressor

I have a 2004 4runner and the heater blower works when it feels like it. By this I mean, some days it won't work at all, and some days it works perfectly. Took it in to the dealer and they said it worked just fine for them and sent me on my way. 2 days later no blower again, the little squares on the control pad say its going up and down, but its not blowing at all. where is the 1st place to start diagnostics?
