Unless my check engine light is on my truck will not take fuel correctly. The check engine light usually come on after it warms up but sometimes it does not.If I turn the ignition off the light sometimes will not come back on and to run the engine you must hold the fuel to the floor. Thanks

You need to check the fuel pressure to the TBI. I just fought one which was doing the same thing. I pulled the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. It turned out to be the short hose from the fuel pump to the steel line coming out of the tank. It had a split in it so I wasn't getting enough fuel pressure. Some places show two pumps available. One you can pull the unit and replace just the pump. The other the pump and sender are all one unit. Hopefully you have the first one. The second is around $300.
The easiest way to get to the top of the tank is to pull the front 6 bolts mounting the bed and loosen the back two. Take the three screws from the filler neck and unhook the rear axle vent tube. You can then take an engine hoist and lift the front of the box. You can get right to the pump and gauge assemble in the top of the tank. Most times, this works easier than emptying the fuel tank and removing it.

Find out why the engine light is coming on, it is the info u probably need to fix the running rough problem. Most auto parts stores will read the codes stored in your trucks computer for free, write them down, and ask what they mean and how to correct the problem. If u need more info, return to this site w/ codes for further help.

My 93 Lumina did the same thing and a simple tune up solved the problem. For whatever reason, the rear middle plug wire goes bad before the others.

Now you can eliminate the simple ones whileparked on level ground check the oil, windshield washer fluid, make sure your air filter is clean. With the engine warm check the transmission fluid. With the engine cool check the antifreeze. Then if you haven't found the problem then you can take it to the shop so the tech's can hook it up to a computer anylyzer.............Thank You for using Fixya.. : )
SOURCE: rough idle, cruise control also stopped working
Sounds like you could have gotten some water in your fuel tank from that fill up. Go to a autoparts store and get a product to put in the tank that takes care of water in fuel. Use it when you fill the tank up a few times after and hopefully it goes away. Whenever you can't sustain power in the engine or it runs rough then your cruise control will constantly be shut off because the engine doesn't have the power to keep the speed up and should go away once your engine is running clean again.
Good Luck
