Check engine light is on and the same time w/ vsc off/tract light on
On this make the warning lights all come on together, the check engine light is the cause of all.
Hello
When the service engine
soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management
light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain
Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the
systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the
engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission
system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these
faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control
module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine
control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then
you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the
appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was
performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.
SOURCE: the VSC and Check engine
Toyotas and Lexus cars have some unique feaures. If your fuel cap is loose or the O2 sensors on the exhaust are faulty this results in an emission problem and the engine computer unit (ECU) engages the check engine light and disables the VSC (the VSC light comes on to warn you that it has been disabled). However you have p0500 code which says the car has no speed sensor signal. The seed sensor is located on the side of the final drive from the transmission and its job is to measure the speed of rotation of the output shaft. The ECU will compare the signals from this shaft along with the speed sensors in the wheel hubs. If there is a difference between these signals the VSC is engaged to apply braking effort to which ever wheel is slipping (running faster) than the other or that the transmission speed sensor would warrant.
So you either have an emission fault has fed back to the VSC and speed sensor missing (p0500) condition, or you have a faulty sped sensor which has tripped the VSC light and in turn the CEL.
Check your fuel filler cap is on tight, turn radio off and disconnect the negative lead to the battery for 5 minutes (this should clear the ECU memory of the code error). If p0500 error and CEL and VSC lights come back on then check the electrical connection to the speed sensor. Ensure it is clean and making a good contact, check the wiring for continuity. If everything else looks good consider changing the speed sensor.

i have a 98 lexus gs400 my battery light came on......do i have to replace my alternator?
SOURCE: LS430 check VSC light on after check engine light on
My car (06 GS430) began giving me more frequent "Check VSC" warnings. (Code P0455 in my case. Really glad I bought that OBDII tool--resetting the codes is a snap!)
I knew that a loose gas cap could cause this, so normally I just give it a twist and it tightens. Now I found that no matter how many "clicks" I tightened the gas cap, it would not cinch down snug. The lightest turn the opposite way would open it.
I was all set to head over to CarQuest for a replacement filler cap. But I thought I'd inspect mine first just to see why it stopped holding. Upon inspection, I saw that what holds the cap in place is compression of the rubber O-ring at the back of the cap, which compresses against the filler neck. That apparently was no longer happening.
I carefully removed the O-ring from the cap--using screwdrivers to lift it over the edge of the groove it sits in. Like removing a bike tire from the rim--work your way around. Then I cut a strip of electrical tape about 10" long, and 1/4" wide. I wound this into the curved groove where the O-ring normally sits, just to build up a little thickness. Put the O-ring back in place. Done.
Now the cap tightens like it's supposed to, and thus far, it has stopped the VSC error codes. Don't know if it will fix your issue or not, Good luck.

ur vsc light will come on whenever you have a check eng light on. best thing to do is bring ur car to a local and have them scan ur car. your car should still be under factory warranty any repairs wont cost u anything.
just from my experience a 2007 ES with a check eng light is most likely a faulty a/f sensor or a loose gas cap

Hi, did you ever get an answer? I have the same issue. Thanks.
