My car drives and stays cool fine when driving, but as soon as i stop the car or slow down it spews coolant out under high pressure. no leaks. replaced thermostat. Radiator fan hasn't turned on yet from what i can tell because the car hasn't gotten hot enough (i assume). I had the same issue before i replaced the thermostat but i was getting a bad reading on my dash in addition to it spewing. So i'm wondering if it might be a pressure issue (hopefully just the cap). Thank You!

Is your cooling fan kicking on when temp rises? Are you running antifreeze or just water?Possible calcium buildup in radiator or water pump not working at full potential.. I could be more helpful if more detail info was given....

try changing the thermostat or you have a block somewhere try flushing it out with a garden hose

Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.
Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.
Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.
Stop leak can plug everything.
Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.

I smell a bad water pump.. If your water pump is bad you get very poor coolant circulation not to mention at a stand still(red light) you get less air flow to cool down the coolant. Since you have poor coolant circulation you wont get the proper coolant to heater core as well so you get less warm air threw heater. Not to mention that when a water pump is faulty and you have a thermostat it allows even less coolant circulation compared to a constant flow of antifreeze. I would have it checked. Good luck
P.S, I am assuming that your electric fans are working and you have to proper mixture of antifreeze and water.

Based on the info you provided, this appears to be a classic radiator problem. The tiny coolant passages in the radiator are clogged, and are not allowing coolant to flow thru to let the fans do their work.
